Welcome to dickblick
Made in Holland, these excellent educational quality watercolors are affordably priced for the student or beginning painter. Choose opaque watercolors for gouache effects and solid coverage. Choose transparent for traditional luminosity.
Each removable pan is 30 mm (1.18") in diameter and snaps into place in its sturdy case. Sets of six have plastic cases while larger sets have metal cases. A 5 ml tube of opaque or transparent white is included with each set.

Absolutely LOVE these!
from Melbourne, FL
Comments about Talens Watercolor Pan Sets:
I absolutely love the pigment of these. Very rich color, not watery and thin, even with ample amounts of water on the brush. They work especially well on heavy weight cardstock. I think I like the look even better than on watercolor paper. I would highly recommend them, and will definitely buy them again when these run out.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Excellent, especially at this price
By C Grant
After using the Transparent set for a while, I bought a very pricey set of half pans by one of the prestige names. Comparing them side by side on Arches paper, I saw very little difference in vividness, smoothness, transparency, or chalkiness, although a couple of the high-priced colors were more intense (need more water) than the Talens equivalents. I'm going to continue using the Talens product. Not only does the quality seem high to my amateur eyes, but the colors in the set go together beautifully. And for what you get, the price is amazing.

Opaque vs, Transparent
By Art for Fun
from Anderson SC
I have both the Transparent and Opaque sets and decided to do a color comparison chart for those who are interested in the difference between the two. First, both are vivid and saturated in color. These are definitely a cut above student grade, and would be a great gift for an aspiring artist. If you want something that really good, but not yet willing to shell out the money for the more professional sets, this is a good starter set.I have found that the difference between Opaque and Transparent is that the Opaque has a more gouache-like feel to it (thicker) and of course, more opaque. But many of the Transparent colors also have some degree of opaqueness, depending on how thick or thin you have it. I could not find a comparable green (Opaque has Emerald, while the Transparent has Hookers Green and Yellow-Green). Hope these charts help you to make your decision.

Dependable and nostalgic
from phila, pa
I inherited my set of 12 transparent watercolours from my retired painting teacher with one of the pans missing, looking at the product now im not sure which one it was? i dont want to rearrange my colours to have a better chance at finding out, but the colors i have are fantastic, i love them, i use them for colouring all my pencil sketches, i wont go near another coloured pencil. i wish someone would compare the opaque and the transparent so i could know which set to get next, all my colours are running out so idk if i want to get a completely new experience or just stay with the paints i have now.

These watercolors are fantastic
from Philadelphia, Pa
Iv been using these paints for over a year for my illustrations, and i have been able to make absolutely any color imaginable by mixing them. The quality is great. They are easy to use, and nice and convenient to carry around in my bag. I also like that you can take them out of the pan, and switch the order of the colors however you like. As long as you like painting with cakes, these will work brilliantly. If i had any complaints, it would be that you can't buy replacement cakes (as far as i can tell). once you start running low on a few you're going to have to buy another whole set. The good thing though, is that it's very affordable, so its not too big of an issue.

All I use for travel
These pans of color are wonderful in my opinion. They have good pigment and can produce vivid colors as well as transparent washes.
