Great replacement part
from Evansville, In.
Comments about APCO Swing Arm Lamp:
Fast shipping and works great as a replacement for the part that I lost from original purchase back from 2006. Works well for my purpose as I collect stamps and use desk for just general purpose not architectural reasons. I thought it was better than one from original purchase so I am happy with product overall.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Excellent Basic Lamp

Very good lamp for the price
from Midlothian, VA
I have about 20 swing-arm lamps in my two workshops. The best ones, which I bought in the 70's, were made in Japan and are still going strong after nearly daily use for 40+ years. They have a longer reach than any I've found in modern times, and superior-quality solid-metal clamps. In the years since then, all of the lamps I've bought have been made in China and vary in quality from very good to useless. These, from Dick Blick, are some of the best I've found. My only serious complaint is that the clamps do not hold well. On the ones I received, the hole in the clamp for the post on the base of the lamp is undersized, so the lamp seizes in the hole when you turn the lamp, causing the clamp to shift and work loose from the table. I have a metal lathe, so I bored the hole out to a larger size. Works much better now. Obviously, most purchasers will not have that option, so may have to live with the annoyance. Maybe they get better with long-term use?

a great lamp for the price
from Dallas, TX
I bought this for the base that has a tightener that puts tension on the swinging arm so it will stay where you put it. My art table is elevated so I wanted something that would not drift like my old one did. The arm fits so tightly in the base clamp I find that i do not have to use the clamp. It stays where you put it.I found that when using these type of lamps that they can get real close to my face when adjusting for glare Even a 75 watt bulb is really hot. I switched to a 60 watt led bulb which is cool to the touch and creates satisfactory light. My experience with the clamp bracket is they do best on a squared edge, the bracket is not deep enough to tighten properly on anything else. It can walk on you so you need to keep an eye on the bracketIf you are not use to this type of lamp, moving the lamp by the switch area is best. Moves easily when using the shade and avoids getting pinched in the mechanical arms. The mechanical arms have plastic wing nuts to allow for tightening up the arms. No tools required. At the current price this is a steal.

I was hoping to be able to clamp to my easel but it's too heavy. Needs a solid surface. Nice light for painting.

I USE THE LAMP FOR CLOSE-UP ART WORK. THE GOOD THING IS THAT IT IS ADJUSTABLE AND EASILY MOVED TO OTHER WORK AREAS.
