Welcome to dickblick
This extra firm polymer sculpting clay can be "carved" and used for projects that require fine details.
Its gray color has been specially formatted to allow sculptors to create fine details, and so that photographers can catch those fine points.
Used in movie studios and by professionals worldwide, it is also a favorite with doll makers.

The finest of details
By Mostly Squares
Comments about Super Sculpey Firm:
Vastly superior to Fimo in most respects. Sticks well to itself, so additive modelling is much easier than with clays I've used in the past. Not a lot of drooping even when warm. I will be working exclusively with this from now on. Super Sculpey is also brilliant, but this is far better suited for miniatures and small decorative things with lots of detail. It also sticks well to ordinary super sculpey if you feel the need to mix and match.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Nice clay for details
from Seattle, WA
A nice firm clay I use for details and like that the residue on hands and work surface is less than regular Sculpey. The darker grey color is also easier to see details while working compared to the regular white Sculpey. I also mix it with the softer white clay to create a medium firmness for larger detail.

More control over other polymers
from san francisco
I've worked with water based clays as well as Roma, Chavant and regular Super Sculpey. But I prefer The Firm SS over them because it isn't too soft so I can work details in. Also I can bake it to harden it rather than having something laying around that can eventually melt if I'm not careful or mix with my armature wire to create dripping rust. Oh yeah and it doesn't stink!

I love this clay. It allows me to create professional level sculptures without a kiln. A must for all home based clay nuts.

I'm using this fo figurines under 12 inches high. Hold detail really well, stays soft until baked (I keep it covered lightly anyway)and bakes nicely for mold making. Wonderful stuff. I traded up from plastilina. Wish it was cheaper-- one pound block seems small. Gonna order 8lbs next.

Best product from Sculpey Ever.

I use it for sculpting figures, you can create just about any texture and the consistency of the clay allows you to sculpt with realtive ease. Even if the sculpture you're working on takes a fall it keeps its shape. Because of the firmness you can add in details that are literally millimeters in size. Really I couldn't find any flaws with this clay, and I plan to keep purchasing for the rest of my life.
