Love these journals~!
Comments about Strathmore Visual Journals:
I use this for a daily visual/written journal. It holds up well to whatever media I'm using, altho admittedly an alcohol-based marker pen will bleed thru. That's my only complaint. The paper is smooth, easy to draw on, and doesn't snag my 01 nibbed drawing pens. Great product! I have bought it before and will buy them again. The size is perfect for me, btw...anything bigger discourages me and keeps me from starting a new page. I bought this myself, so there is nothing to disclaim. I'm a satisfied customer.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have the small mixed media version, and it is easily one of the best spontaneous purchases I have made. The 90lb paper holds up surprisingly well, with little buckle even with full page washes. It feels like a heavier sheet. So far I've used it with watercolor, acrylic, ink, and gouache, and it's worked fantastically for each. The paper has a little tooth, especially on the front side of each page, which I really like for giving just a touch of texture and allowing for layering of media. The back side is a little smoother, which is great for different uses - I use both sides equally. The paper is 100% opaque, so even if I paint the front side black, the back side looks good as new (unless you use markers, but that's to be expected)The hard cover is fantastic, I can use this little book balanced on my knee or held above my head, and it keeps the sheets well protected. Seriously, get this book. I nearly swore off mixed media paper after trying the abominable Canson XL mixed media sheet, which was possibly the worst spontaneous purchase I have ever made. Don't even look at that festering horror, get this one instead!

Just filled one! loved it!

When I say "Best in its category" I mean "modestly priced journals. I bought the 140lb Watercolor one and found it wonderful for everything I did to it. the sturdy cover stood up to six years of banging around and I was able to use Daniel Smith Watercolor Ground to add a painting on the front cover without trouble watercolor ground will adhere to it. The pages are sturdy and thick enough that even the heaviest washes didn't go through and the pages didn't cockle.Texture is a bit coarse for Cold Press watercolor paper, allowing broken color and dry brush techniques but not so deep that it prevented pen-watercolor details. Overall a fantastic buy. Stillman & Birn Beta and Delta books are better but in its price range this rocks. Also liked the sturdy wire binding, it did not uncoil like some other wire binding sketchbooks and pads. So if you're not in the high priced range, get one of these. Quality and good design.

Best Multimedia paper!
from Madison, Wi
I use these journal with Mixed Media paper for most of my sketching and watercolor and gouache work. It is the BEST 90lb paper I have ever used for water media. It will hold up to lots of water and the paper never pills like all the other 90lb papers I have tried. There is no bleed through for waterbased markers and pens. Solvent based ones will bleed through. I often use a brush pen with waterproof very black ink and again no bleed through at all so you can work both sides of the page. The journals are very study and hold up out in the field. The covers are sturdy also but I prefer to customize mine by applying gesso on both sides of each cover x 2 or 3 and then paint with acrylic paint. For best results lightly sand the covers before applying the gesso and lightly sand between each layer. There is no downside to this paper but I would like to see it come in a landscape format rather than just the portrait formats it comes in now. The price is very reasonable for such great paper.

Basic sketchbook, great product. I thought it would be half journal half sketch so you could write under the picture, it's not. Its just a basic sketchbook.nothing bad to say about it :)

I have been looking at this art journal for a while so when I was able to take advantage of a sale I got 2 of the 9 x 12 with the watercolor cold press 140lb, so now I can use watercolor and/or my fluid or open acrylics on these pages and play.
