Good Paper in Journal Form
By Dot The Artist
from San Francisco, CA
This journal has some good quality paper in it that I do enjoy working with. I'm not a fan of the journal itself because in order to even work on the pages, you have to physically bend them, which seems weird. Another thing is that the pages are not double sided, so basically half of the pages you're given are the back sides of actual watercolor paper. You can paint on them, but they aren't made for it the same way. I think this product could use some improvements, but once you get past the faults its still a good journal, and as long as you're aware of the problems I think it's a good purchase. I do love working in it and so far I've been having a lot of fun with painting in it. Final opinion: I like it, could use improvements, but it's good!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Finally, a portrait-oriented watercolor sketchbook!
By Filler of Notebooks
from Somerville, MA
I've only just discovered these notebooks, so I can't say what I "usually" use them for. I expect there will be some fairly detailed landscape and architectural drawings in watercolor, pen and ink, and alcohol marker, so I'm glad that this cold-pressed paper is actually fairly smooth. The pages lie flat--a great plus in a sketchbook. Alcohol markers (Copic, etc.) do soak through the pages, so a backsheet should be used. I expect to buy many more of these sketchbooks.

Great paper, but does not lay flat
The cover folds back easily and the paper is great. However, it's rather hard to keep the journal flat as you paint. If this is not an issue for you, then this is a great purchase. If you need a flat-lying journal, then consider another option or you may have to cut out each sheet like I am.

Must buy again!!
from Wilson, NC
Absolutely in love with this journal! its small enough to carry around and has very reliable and thick pages. Don't be fooled by the soft cover. It is very stable, and not annoyingly floppy!!
from Richmond va
The watercolor pages are just the right thickness for multimedia including watercolor, brush pens and ink. The softcover binding holds well. Great value sketchbook!
