Comments about Strathmore Ready Cut Watercolor Sheets:
I found myself spending more time trying to precisely cut 5X7 cuts and less time creating actual works. These are as precise as can be and with very little buckling, which I'm sure depends on how one saturates it. Needless to say, I've ordered other available sizes.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Strathmore shame on you for downgrading the quality
from Ann Arbor , michigan
I used to buy the 8x10 and 11x14 inches hot press water papers in bulk. I just received 3 of the 8x10 and 2 of the 11x14 this month and after using one of them I noticed that something was horribly different in the quality of the paper. The paper is thinner, ( there is no way this is 140lb paper anymore!) and does not absorb the colors like it use to. It is akin painting on a napkin where the color soaks in through the paper bleeds horrible in ways that watercolor should not bleed on paper. As a result, the black colors are extremely faded ( imagine how it would look on a bounty kitchen napkin), and requires a TON of watercolor just to show up temporarily then fade once dry. HORRIBLE. I can't believe how angry this made me as a customer. Now I am stuck with returning these and missing the quality this paper once was. It was very desirable because it was super bright white and pre cut but now it's a complete waste of money. I can't sell this art to my customers. PLEASE REVERT to your prior quality of paper ASAP.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I have used this paper for years and prefer it over all the others. It is a tough paper that withstands a lot. I use it for all my watercolor projects and it is nice to have it already cut to the size you want. The paper itself lends so well to any watercolor paint and is strong enough for you to make changes to your work.

Paper tore when taking tape off but was a good virgin try at watercolor.
11x14 cold press paper
I like these papers, I've purchased quite a few. 11x14 is a great size, these papers are convenient. I usually paint on Arches but I enjoyed this paper. The only suggestion I have is to be really gentle if your lifting away any tape you've used for stretching, (I use a neutral ph tape I bought on here with low tack). I tore one of my pictures a bit in the area underneath the tape, but its unnoticeable at least.
paint dried strangely on it
By Paulina, watercolorist
from Atlanta, GA
My paint dried strangely onto it...some colors disappeared altogether. It also took a great deal of paint and water to cover an area, I had to go over paint twice or even three times to get even coverage. However, the paper did not buckle too much. This was my first time using hot press watercolor paper, but I feel like the disappearing color problem should not have been an issue.

I am very happy with this paper. It can take a great deal of water without warping or curling. The colors turn out vibrant and beautiful even when using cheap paint. I also find it so convenient that the paper is pre-cut and ready to use. The price is fantastic too!
Hot Press was rough
By Napa Artist
from My Studio
There are standards one expects when purchasing watercolor paper -- and I was expecting a smoother surface for the hot press paper when I purchased the sheets that were labeled as such. What I got instead were sheets that had a textured, rougher surface that would be more akin to cold press paper. So be forewarned -- these ready-cut watercolor hot press sheets are textured and not smooth at all.
Merchant response: Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. We found these sheets to be have a textured side, similar to a cold press paper as you mention, however we found the other side to have the smooth hot press surface as expected.
This is good paper.

I often use this paper when doing demos at festivals and art shows. It is easy to carry and being pre-cut is very convenient.
Loved the paper quality
Great quality for the price. I liked the individual Sheets
