Comments about Strathmore 500 Series Writing Cards:
I love these cards. The size is perfect for card making...not as large as regular greeting cards but larger than the smaller announcement size cards. And they are of excellent quality. I only wish they came in white also.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I was very excited about these, thinking I could make some nice calligraphy cards with little watercolor drawings. Unfortunately, the paper the cards are made from is terrible. It's nothing like the normal Strathmore Writing paper, more of just an okay cardstock. As such, it can't stand any ink that's the least bit thin. Even india inks and sumi feather a bit on the cards. Metallic and matte inks that sit above the surface of the paper are fine, and micron pens are decent with just the barest hint of feather. The envelopes are made from Strathmore's 25% cotton Writing paper, which is great for pretty much any ink out there. But it's also pretty thin, so you have to put in a liner or else you can see whatever is inside
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

No ink bleed with these
Must have if you want to use calligraphy pens and want to reduce the ink bleeds when hesitating on a letter or address. These are much thicker than standard envelops which tend to bleed like crazy when using pen nibs and india inks. My only complaint is the cost...
