Comments about Strathmore 400 Series Recycled Toned Sketch Wirebound Journals:
I love using white and black charcoal on paper like this. It really makes the image look 3D. The way the rings to turn the pages work is really suitable because it doesn't disturb the quality of the paper. Such an excellent product.

Was very much appreciated by my artist daughter, and already has been put to use.
Best Grey Toned 18x24 Paper
from Santa Monica, CA
Works well using black drawing materials with a touch of white for highlights. A different brand has a laid textured finish, but I prefer this smooth texture. The spiral ring binding works well, and sheets do not fall out like some pads that are bonded with glue. Ring binder also allows pages to lie flat when you flip pages.I am sorry that my local Blick Stores no longer carry this pad in 18x24 inches. (Only smaller sizes.) A number of my artist friends also use 18x24. So now we have to pay for shipping.
Great color pencil sketchbook diary
Really good for artists trying out color pencils (prisma color pencils has more coverage and not as waxy as average color pencils). I absolutely love it.
An excellent product

I attend a 3 hour uninstructed life-drawing class weekly. I use you paper with charcoal and white chalk. My work is exquisite. Charcoal is the dark tone the paper is the mid tone, the chalk is the light tone.
Nice bound option
My stand-by for toned paper is Strathmore 500 series charcoal paper in velvet grey. I'm teaching a head drawing class and wanted to teach the tequnique with toned paper and a dark and light value pastel pencil, but I didn't want my students to have to deal with all the loose paper. This toned pad was the answer. I wasn't sure that the value would be right for me since I prefer a sanguine pencil over charcoal, but it's about the same as the velvet grey. The texture is quite smooth. It was hard to tell since the cover drawing has lots of texture. Overall I'm highly satisfied with the product.
