Welcome to dickblick
Made from 25% hemp fiber and 75% post-consumer waste fiber, this environmentally friendly paper contains no virgin wood. Hemp, an alternative fiber, grows faster than trees and harvesting does not disturb natural ecosystems.
This paper's traditional laid finish provides an ideal foundation for charcoal, pastel, oil crayon, and other dry media. Strathmore's new flip over covers makes it easy to work in the pad yet tear out finished works cleanly. Each pad contains 24 sheets of acid-free, 60 lb (90 gsm) paper.

this is great paper
By Mom who color's
I am buying some for myself. Tried it out with a piece from a friend. It is great for oil pastels (I draw, then smear with cotton rag), colored pencil, graphite pencils, charcoal pencils( I use Derwent colored charcoal pencils, Prisma color pencils, SoHo color pencils, Blick color pencils, and Pentel color pencils). even looks good with Crayola colored pencils! Holds up to graphite erasure which I of course, draw in graphite first. I am a hobbyist and not a pro.So I make tons of mistakes and have to erase. For a hobbyist, this paper is a great choice. I use a sharp point for wax based colored pencils first then a round or chiseled point. If you are looking for a paper that can take erasing this is it. I do my art for joy and just plain fun. But if your a pro this would be great too.
THANK YOU FOR HAVING WONDERFUL STANDARDS
from Silverdale, WA
I attend the Northwest College of Art and Design. Attending an art school of this standard is pretty expensive when it comes to art supplies. I was so thrilled to find the deals your company had going on! My class has a private page on Facebook with a little over 30 members and I posted about your wonderful deals and many of them got supplies as well! The quality of your merchandise was even greater then the deals, thank you for valuing your customers so highly!

lines all through it
By Mountain Top Media, LLC
This paper had lines that I did not expect. I cannot use it for my charcoal or pastel drawing studies. I have no use for this paper at all. I do not know what others use it for. The lines must be useful for something. I have no knowledge of competitive alternatives or price, but was forced to fill in something in order for this review to be accepted.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I use it for sketches with charcoal pencils ( bought a derwint set of 24) and it works very well.

I recommend everyone to buy a couple pads. Despite the "charcoal paper" label, I have found that this paper is great for any media: pencil erases completely, ink holds up well and so does a little paint. I purchased the 6"x9" pad and have used it for a sketch journal for a current project and it is seriously the best paper I have yet worked with. There really isn't anything negative to say about this product.
