This is a perfect size for my watercolors. The white surface is helpful to show the brilliance of my colors, it makes good contrast for copying on my printer.

I really do love this paper. I have purchased SO MANY different kinds of watercolor paper over the years, and I always end up coming back to this. It does have a different texture, as two people commented on, but that doesn't really bother me. I illustrate over the watercolor with a .005 micron pen, and I find that the lines embedded in the paper help create a more whimsical look to my drawings. Also, compared to the others I have tried (Canson is WRETCHED for my art work), it doesn't 'pill' if I have to reapply water to blend.

This paper is really lovely to paint on (at least it is for me... I'll probably always be too poor to buy real cotton watercolour paper!) and has plenty of sizing, but one thing you should be forewarned about, as another reviewer mentioned, it has a really "unique" texture to it... it has horizontal lines instead of the more familiar dappled texture of most papers. It's not bad in itself, it's actually really pretty, but if you think you'd prefer them running vertically, make sure you buy a larger pad or the single sheets so that you can decide which way you want the texture to go. As soon as you use a granulating paint on it you'll know what I mean! Also, if you're planning to scan your work and post it on the internet, DON'T orient the lines so that they match the orientation of your scanner bulb!! It just looks terrible, because of the way the light bounces off it... You may have to give it a quarter-turn and scan your painting in halves just to get it to look right.

So like I said, it IS very pretty and gives a nice effect, but it takes some getting used to, and may not be what you personally are after.

This quality is nice to practice on. I thought I was going to create a nice painting, but once I applied paint throught out the paper, I can see the paper throughout the paint.
The paper has lines throughout the sheet, and the paint will not hide the lines. The paper sheets are not as smooth as the sheets in the Strathmore Windpower Watercolor Pads. The Strathmore 300 Series Tape Bound Watercolor Pads is a fantasic deal and good to practice you'r master pice ideas and future paintings. Thank you!

This is the third year we have used this product for our 'en plein air' painting program at the DWGNRA, at Millbrook Village, for elementary and h.s. students. I would recommend this product.

My art teacher recommended this paper for beginning students. It has good starch content, and is great for practicing techniques when learning.

Of course it cannot compare to more expensive block papers for finished paintings.
