These pads are economical and perfect for practicing technique! They're designed for the novice, but invaluable to any artist who needs drawing paper to experiment on.
Each pad contains either 25 sheets or 50 sheets of bright white, 70 lb (114 gsm), acid-free paper. The paper is receptive to pen and ink, pencil, crayon, charcoal, watercolor, and markers.
Pads are spiral bound on the short side. Wire bound pads feature micro-perforated sheets that are actual size when removed at the perforation. Glue bound pads feature flip over covers that make it easy to work in the pad.

Gift for a student.

These are sturdy sketch books that turn my students into artists. There is something about holding a real sketch book in your lap that makes you feel like a real artist. We are having a great time using these at school.

Wonderful for colored pencil and more
from Pacific Coast
I use this mostly for colored and graphite pencil, but also for some Pan Pastel backgrounds for my drawings. It works great for all of them. The paper is smooth with just enough tooth for colored pencil layers, one side being slightly smoother than the other, depending on what you prefer. Both colored and graphite pencils go down smoothly and blend easily. The paper holds up well to erasing if done with a bit of care. It also holds up to burnishing of colored pencil extremely well. It accepts Pan Pastels nicely, and they can be lifted with a kneaded eraser somewhat. It's not intended for pastel use, but for a little dry mixed media of pastel, it's very nice.Mostly this is a great paper for pencils, and the price is outstanding for the quality. It is not listed as artist quality, but the truth is it gives professional artist looking results. And it's made in USA by an environmentally aware company.(Attached artwork made on the slightly rougher side of the paper. Birds, branches, individual leaves in colored pencil, background in pan pastel.)

I am an art teacher and students can be hard on their projects. Strathmore paper is consistent in holding up to their abuse and their art work lasts of a long time. #sweepstakes

A great paper for beginners and more advanced artists.
Me and my sister always buy these drawing pads. The paper is tough enough so that you can even do watercolor sketches on it. I was very happy to get it on sale.
