Good for practice
Comments about Strathmore 200 Series Skills Watercolor Pads:
This paper is really good for practicing. One side has a little texture and the other is fairly smooth. I used this paper for watercolor and for practicing airbrushing. I just use the smoother side for airbrushing.Good buy.

Perfect for practice
from San Francisco, CA
OK -- I love the value of this paper -- I am using it for a beginning class for ink and wash techniques and it works great for this wet on dry technique -- the paper is super thick and nice and so so inexpensive that I feel encouraged to try different sketch and wash without worry about wasting expensive paper. I have not used it for wet on wet techniques, and am using it for black and white work -- absolutely fabulous for that, and shades of gray show up really nicely. India ink with dip pen does not run or bleed -- you get crisp lines and whats even better, you can use the back of the paper, though that does not have as much texture, and dry brush texture techniques did not work as well. But the back is even nicer for sketching with a pen.
Waste of money

As soon as brush and paint is applied to this paper, the paper starts to fall apart. There is no way to use it for wet-into-wet, lifting, mixing on the paper, scraping...I'm not sure what "watercolor skills" you are supposed to be able to use this for. A far better choice would be the Strathmore watercolor Visual Journal.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Not too bad!
from Beautiful midwest
My only disappointment with this watercolor tablet was that the paper was not white...it has a slight grayish cast which throws off the color of the paints; however, it is very useful for practice - and that's exactly how it is advertised. I like that there are 30 sheets of paper, making the price right!
