Comments about Strathmore 200 Series Skills Watercolor Pads:
Everything written by Phung, Austin is correct. If you are serious with your practicing watercolor, rather invest in something more sturdy that can take some scrubbing, lifting, and layering. The paper strts to roll after the second swipe of the brush, and even at the first touch of my mop, it leaves an indelible mark on the paper. For the price, it might be useful for other medium.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Do not buy these for practicing watercolor. You can not apply a certain types of techniques at all, especially wet-on-wet and lifting, could be because the paper does not have sufficient sizing for watercolor medium. Also, when you brush too much ( like when you trying to fix an area), the paper pulp will come off . I know this is supposed to be inferior ,cheap watercolor paper for practice , but you won't be able to practice at all if you are a serious student. Instead buy the higher Strathmore series, work on small size good paper, learning basic drawing skills and art principles, or really concentrate and careful even if you are practicing to avoid wasting expensive paper.Paper is very important in watercolor.Buy better paper and be responsible for it .
This is great paper
from Friday Harbor, WA
I use this paper for pen and ink watercolor urban and field sketches. It is stiff, doesn't need to be mounted with tape unless you are doing very wet work, and holds up well. Keep in mind that it is,practice paper, but it is acid free and a nice weight (140 lb.). It will pull if you try to lift mistakes, so learn to blot with a paper towel or don't try to fix your errors.I love this paper!
What a great buy
I use this paper for pen and ink watercolor sketching. There are many good things to say about this "paper for practice". It is quite stiff, so you don't have to tape it down if you aren't doing heavy washes. That makes it a great product for field sketches. It is inexpensive and acid free. The only drawback is it can pull a lot if you try to aggressively lift mistakes... Learn to pat with a towel quickly, or live with your errors. I use this as my field paper of choice.

This is just ok. Buckles quickly and forget about trying to correct a mistake. Not frame worthy.

This is such beautiful watercolor paper. And what a price! This notebook will allow you to give your students quality watercolor paper at an affordable price.
Good for practice
This paper is really good for practicing. One side has a little texture and the other is fairly smooth. I used this paper for watercolor and for practicing airbrushing. I just use the smoother side for airbrushing.Good buy.
