Comments about Stonehenge Drawing Paper Pads:
I love this paper as it has plenty of tooth for my colored pencil portraits. Just wish there were a lot more colors.

I use this paper for drawing with pencil (primarily). I love the weight and the texture.
Amazing paper for mixed media artists. The thickness is great and can withstand my use with water as well as paint and oil pastel. Love this paper.

I purchased this paper on the recommendation of a leading colored pencil painter and haven't been disappointed. It has a slightly pebbled surface on one side and a flatter surface on the other side so there are some automatic choices built in. The weight allows me to texturize the paper where needed. It also allows me to use various coats of mineral spirits or water and holds up to erasing well. I have not been fighting the paper- just myself. I purchased several sizes and the smallest size to use as thumbnails and practice. White only so far.

Stonehenge is the best!
By Moon Shines Brightly
Stonehenge pads and paper are my absolute favorite. I introduced these papers to my most advanced students last semester. I demonstrated how fantastically Stonehenge papers hold up to the application of layer after layer of watercolor paint without buckling. On one piece, it took six layers of watercolor paint to get the exact blend of colors I wanted. I mixed up extra paint so I would have plenty for the next stage of the process. Then the fun began! I was demo-ing using salt to create a splatter effect. I applied a seventh layer of watercolor paint, sprinkling on the salt as I went. It was allowed to dry prior to removing the salt. It turned out beautifully and without any buckling in the paper whatsoever! This first one was shades of blue, turquoise, and light green. The second one was a background of warm colors that I wanted as intense like fire as I could get them. I repeated the same exact steps as I did the first time and achieved the same splatter effect with absolutely no buckling of the Stonehenge paper. The colors were not as intense as I wanted, so after school that day, I added an extra coat of watercolor paint and salted it again. The next morning when I checked it, the color was more what I wanted but the splatter effect wasn't what I wanted. To remove this layer of salt required some gentle but firm rubbing. After school on this day, I added another layer of the paint and got the color intensity of fire that I wanted and added the salt. The next morning when I checked it, the splatter effect still was not there but after I brushed and rubbed off the salt, what I did get was a fiery background with an awesome sueded feeling to it. All of this was done to this third piece of Stonehenge paper with absolutely NO buckling or warping of the paper! My students were amazed at what this paper could be put through and still look beautiful. On each of these were put block prints of colors that would correspond to its background but not pure black. It was an excellent "teaching moment" about the difference in student-grade materials and artist-grade materials.
so far great paper no complaints
