Comments about Star Products Earth-Friendly Portfolios:
You get what you pay for. The material it's made of is pretty sturdy and will keep any art pieces from bending. My only complaint is that the handle is a little uncomfortable to hold on to but it works.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Affordable, perfectly sized, and I like that it is made of recycled materials. However, it's on the flimsy side.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Great Environmentally friendly portfolios

We sell these at our school store for students who have art or large flat items to store. If possible, I always opt for the most environmentally conscious choice when making purchases for our store.

After only 3 weeks the handles snapped! There were only 2 sheets of paper in it! Buyer beware!
Merchant response: We are sorry to hear that the handles did not hold up on your portfolio. A member of our Customer Care team will be contacting you to see if we may be of further assistance.

major design flaw
from monterey, ca
I purchased this portfolio to serve as a basic protective way to transport small, lightweight pieces. Its first cargo, an ink on vellum piece, came out of the portfolio with very noticeable white dents- it turns out that they attached the handles with metal brads that are very raised and ridgy on the inside of the portfolio, and these can very easily chew up your artwork. So yes, this is a portfolio that is likely to damage anything you put inside it. I would recommend that you buy from a manufacturer who understands the need for the inside of a portfolio to be a flat surface.
The only reason this product doesn't get 5 stars is because there is no way to keep it closed. Some sort of clasp or tie would be nice. Great for the money though.

This may seem like a good deal, but this came apart at the seams while sitting for two days with a pad of paper inside. I'm so glad I didn't try to take it for a walk. Spend a few more dollars and buy something better.

Only for carrying light weight materials
My daughter was instructed to purchase a portfolio case to carry her supplies to art class. I chose this one because I thought she only needed something simple, and I liked that this one was made from recycled materials. However, this case was not suitable for that purpose. She was carrying a 100-sheet newsprint pad (18x24") and a pad of charcoal paper, and the handle almost immediately pulled out of the side. It was obviously unable to handle the weight.Perhaps to an experienced artist, it would have been obvious that this portfolio was not suitable for our needs. However, we were not experienced enough to know this. I thought the product description should have specified that it is only suitable for carrying a few lightweight papers. Instead, it states that the portfolio expands to 2" and is durable, so I thought it was designed to carry enough papers to fill it.The product description is also misleading. It states that "Comfortable webbed carrying handles are secured with durable steel rivets." This was not the case on the portfolio we received. The handles were only taped into the portfolio. So if you want something to store or carry a small quantity of lightweight prints, this may be suitable for that purpose. It is not suitable for carrying heavier materials.

We use these when printing out large designs for clothing- The Earth-Friendly portfolio is a perfect size and weight for keeping prints flat and tidy.
