Makes my pencils nice and sharp...
By Joe Johnson
from Orem, Utah
Comments about Staedtler Pencil Grip Two-Hole Pencil Sharpener:
Gets the pencils nice and sharp. Works really well with my Faber Castell Polychromos pencils. Sometimes it breaks my Caran D'ache Luminance pencils, but I think that's because I rock the pencils a little bit while I sharpen them. Gets the job done.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Sharpens well but impossible to open!
By Pencil Consumer
Unfortunately, the search continues for a sharpener for colored pencils. The Prismacolor bullet shaped sharpener worked for a few days before making gouges in the wood casings. The School Smart electric is too narrow for anything wider than a Prismacolor Premier. This Staedtler has two holes, a plus because it accommodates pencils of varying thickness. It can sharpen Prismacolors, Derwent Inktense,Faber Castell Polychromos and Albrecht Durer, but I've been unsuccessful in my attempts to open the lid in order to empty the shavings container ...and I lift weights! Update: I finally opened it after five days but my thumb is scratched raw, so I won't close it again. Keeping other fingers crossed in hopes it will continue to sharpen well. I've read hundreds of reviews on various sites. Considering the size of the market and the need for a versatile reliable automatic (electric) sharpener for expensive pencils, the company that meets this demand should do very well indeed!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The BEST pencil Sharpener
from New York, NY
Any sharpener will work, but with the Staedtler Pencil Grip Two-Hole Pencil Sharpener you get a really nice sharp point on your colored pencils - great for coloring intricate designs! You won't be unhappy. FYI...use the hole for graphite pencils - it's a better point! Great value.

I can take this with me without worrying about destroying my bag with graphite dust and wood shavings. I use both sides of the sharpener, and it works very, very well. I won't be without one ever again.

Works as it should!
By SL Brown

This is the only pencil sharpener I have found that doesn't eat Prismacolors. It makes a short point that is very fine, which I like, as it doesn't shave off much wood to get a sharp point. The graphite side is also ideal for my Faber Castell 9000s. I carry this in my purse all the time and have never had it pop open. The little hinged lid has a catch that clicks quite firmly. It is loose in the bag, though. It might pop open if packed tightly. I've had mine for over a year and am about to get a second one: one for the hpuse and one for the purse.
Excellent Pencil Sharpener

By far this is the best manual pencil sharpener I've owned. The only downside is the awkwardness I've encountered when replacing the top after discarding the pencil shavings. There is an insert to allow the top to "pop right off" but this doesn't always happen. This aside, it is the perfect pencil sharpener. You wont need another.

Great sharpener, cap a little flimsy
This sharpener is really good, however, after having it for a few weeks the top broke off in my backpack. If you throw it in a bag or backpack, then there is a good chance the top will open and break off. If you get this just for your desk or workspace, this is an awesome thing to have. I still use it, but I can't put it in a bag/backpack without graphite powder getting all over my other belongings.
