Yea this is my second review because i just saw the comment about having a problem with sharpening this pencils. i absolutely disagree! They fit perfectly fine standard manual pencil sharpeners, which i only use for 2 years and never ever had a problem. Maybe one day ill buy electric one but just to save some time.Once again- perfect pencils!

At first, I thought the Prismacolor Turquoise drawing pencils were the real deal, until I "rediscovered" the Staedtler brand (had purchased them previously, but have not used them as much). When sketching or drawing on the Strathmore 400 Series Drawing Paper (for example), these pencils feel like they GLIDE on the sheets, leaving precise marks, and do not leave as much smudge as the Prismacolor Turquoise (which, by the way, feel like a struggle to create quality work). The softer pencils do crumble just a bit, but that's hardly a quibble.

A big plus with the Staedtler is how they have the degree markings on ALL sides of the pencil...no time is lost for one to know the type is appropriate for the work.

Compared to the Prismacolor Turquoise, the Staedtler pencils have excellent quality overall!

These are my favorite graphite pencils for drawing. The graphite is consistent - no soft bits in hard leads or hard bits in soft leads.

They are slim and the wood quality is good making these pencils very easy to sharpen - even in a cheap hand held sharpener. The previous reviewer that said they are hard to sharpen is wrong - he must be using a worn out pencil sharpener.

There is also no lead cracking issues while sharpening because the lead is bonded well to the wood. Best quality for a good price.

I expected great quality from these pencils. They don't seem to fit standard manual pencil sharpeners. They won't sharpen in anything but an electric sharpener and then I can't get a sharp point. I'm truly disappointed.

A valuable tool for artists and creative individuals. These pencils are strong, durable and provide fantastic quality drawing and sketching. My favorite is HB because it allows you to draw a nice sketch that is presentable but also is easy to rub away when you need to make changes.

I bought a full set of these last year to do my own comparisons among several brands. Everything about these pencils is excellent. The price, the quality, the range, you name it and it's top notch. One of the most surprising discoveries was the consistency of these pencils from grade to grade. Some of the more expensive brands, or more well advertised brands, were in fact among the poorest performers. The Staedtlers got top marks across the board. If you're looking for great quality, great price, and happiness at the end of the graphite rainbow...these are your choice.
