Welcome to dickblick
These German-made pencils are world famous for their quality, lightfast pigments. Their opaque, water-soluble colors blend beautifully and erase easily. The large-diameter lead can make broad strokes or be sharpened to a fine point for details and lettering.
Draw with CarbOthello pencils as you would draw with a pastel stick. CarbOthello pencils can also be used like watercolor pencils — they respond instantly to a wet brush or pre-dampened paper. Pencils have semi-soft leads in a woodcased pencil form and are pre-sharpened.

These pencils are probably one of the best pastel pencils for the price. Very smooth, very blendable. I wish there were more colors.
These are soft and blend well. Stabilo is the easiest for me to use.
Performs like the Faber Castell
I ordered a few Carbothello pencils and a few Pitt pencils from Faber Castell . Even though the Carbothellos are cheaper I could not tell the difference between the two brands ; they performed equally well. I love that the Carbothellos have a colored barrel which makes identifying colors a lot easier. The Pitt pencils are all natural colored with only a small band of color on the bottom, it's OK if there are only a few pencils to keep track of, but with a larger set, that could become annoying. The only issue I have with these pencils is that they have the CA warning for safety. The Pitt pencils do not. I try not to use my bare fingers to blend them. . Overall , a great product. I may want to order a set because they are a lot of fun to use and make work with pastel a much less messy process.

This is the pencil that is required for my portrait drawing class. It is solid pencil, easy to sharpen yet the tip does not break easily. The color goes on very nicely. I would considered using pastel pencils from this line well beyond this class.
