These German-made pencils are world famous for their quality, lightfast pigments. Their opaque, water-soluble colors blend beautifully and erase easily. The large-diameter lead can make broad strokes or be sharpened to a fine point for details and lettering.
Draw with CarbOthello pencils as you would draw with a pastel stick. CarbOthello pencils can also be used like watercolor pencils — they respond instantly to a wet brush or pre-dampened paper. Pencils have semi-soft leads in a woodcased pencil form and are pre-sharpened.

I really like these

Comments about Stabilo CarbOthello Pastel Pencils:
These pencils hold their leads (lead doesn't fall out after sharpening them) and that is a real plus to me. The colors are clear and smooth.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

As all Pastel Pencil makers, some colors are better with each maker than others, so it takes several brands, for colors to reach perfection.

I love these pencils!

I use these pencils to draw pet portraits on 8 x 11 pastel paper. I love how the pencils draw so smoothly and can be used to either give fur a softness or a coarseness. I also love how they can get fine details. You can see the colored flecks and other color variations in the eyes of my pets, which helps to bring them alive. The only thing I don't like is that occasionally I get a pencil that crumbles every time I sharpen it. I think this happens if the pencil was jarred or jostled too much in shipping, whether it be shipping from the primary manufacturer to Blick or shipping from Blick to me.

I use these with my pastels for tiny details. I also teach with these as color pencils with layering and ease of blending.

A rainbow of colors

I am really pleased with this set of pastel pencils. I have been buying this brand individually and I was always lacking a color I wanted. In addition to the pencils, the set comes with a kneeable eraser, a pencil sharpener, and a blending stylus, which was a nice surprise, as I wasn't expecting these additional items.

I usually do colored pencil drawings (faber castell), but i was interested in doing something different. i was looking up what pastel pencils to buy, and people kept saying that these were the best, and better than the really pricy ones. after using them, not only are the awesome to use, but i almost like them better than the colored pencils! my first two pieces with the pastel pencils (pictured) came out pretty darn good for having never used anything like them before. a few tips: don't use the blending stump. i find that blending colors with a lighter color works best. i also think that using smooth paper works better that "toothy" paper. my drawing below was on smooth (about 20lb) paper. i love that you can layer light colors over dark- something i miss when i use colored pencils

The darkest green for trees and grass. Pencils work great and sharpen nicely without the "lead" breaking.
