Transparent Extender Base
from San Francisco
Comments about Speedball Water-Soluble Poster Ink:
This extender base is essential for my serigraph prints to manage the transparent layers I often work with. the price on the 32 FLOZ makes this a real money saver - important for the cost conscious professional.

I use it for screen printing and making linear designs with it. The color is very bright and I like that.

Amazing unique product. read description

This ink is workable forever. It dries but you can reactivate it with water at any time. Obviously some artists may not want that quality. However, I need to be able to blend the ink days after i print and so this is perfect. And it is great for cleanup since you don't have to rush to clean your screen. You can wash all the ink off a dried out screen days later if you feel lazy (or are working away from a water source). When you need to make the image permanent simply spray it with varnish.

Disastrous results. Watch out.
from Chicago, IL
- Never fully dries.- Humidity makes finished prints tacky.- Touching print will lift ink and leave fingerprints.- Any amount of water causes print to bleed. I should have done my research. Completely ruined hundreds of booklet covers and DVD sleeves. Total project disaster.Unless there is some way of sealing this ink, I have no idea how it could be used in any production setting.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

These inks perform well during the screen printing process (low bleed, nice matte finish, easy clean up.) However, they are not permanent, so even the slightest moisture after they've dried will cause the inks to smear. You'll need to seal your completed artwork to prevent this problem.A better alternative would be to use Speedball's permanent acrylic screen printing inks, instead of these water soluble inks.
