Glad I bought the big one
By Tim, Drawist
Comments about Speedball Super Black Waterproof India Ink:
I had been interested in using ink and a brush for my cartoons and illustrations and started with this. It is fantastic. It's incredibly black and controls likely a dream. It even cleans nicely off a brush. Will continue to use this for its quality and price. It can't be beat.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Better then most Inks!
from Pitsburgh, PA
I use this ink to do comic book style line art with a brush and a crow quill nib. It works great for that. it's smooth constant, and black.

This is the only product I know to stain wood for a truly ebony finish. It goes on easy and drys quick. Won't fade with UV exposure and does not react with the final finish. The secret of piano finishers for years.

Great for refilling old ink bottles, and the ink quality is great.

Black, Fine, and Stain Resistant
By Scott the friend

I use this to ink comics, with Zig and Zebra brand nib pens. I have tested this ink with a Zig G-Pen on Strathmore Bristol board, and with a synthetic number 1 brush on the same Bristol. It does not run, It is extremely water resistant (you can use other colored inks or watercolors to create flat color within the lines without stains or bleeding) and very solid and fine when dried.Using the brush is the best use of this ink, as it makes really fine marks. I got some wet ink on my scanner, and it cleaned very effortlessly, with just a little bit of water on a wet rag. But it is still waterproof when dry. It has a solid black look, much like the Sumi ink from Japan. It has a matte finish when dried. It has a grey type sheen to it, though, which is not like Sumi ink. That grey sheen is the only thing that I found unpleasant about using this ink. If you can't use Sumi ink, this is the best I've used for comics with the same nib pens and brush.
Needs That Special Something
from Northern Nevada
For what I do, as a hobbyist, this is a very nice ink, when just bought and opened. The next time I used this ink...about 6 months later, I noticed that a lot of the ink had evaporated...the bottle was only about 2/3 full. I'm not even going to turn this bottle over to see if it leaks...I pretty much know what will happen. I would say that this product needs that special something...like a different container/capping system for starts.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This is the best brand for school use. Drawings, tempera resists and mixed media work are beutiful.

My favorite ink

This ink is super opaque, waterproof, and the exact right product for so many situations. I bought the litre, since I go through this stuff like it's going out of style, apparently. HOWEVER, one thing to note--wait until your ink is completely dry before attempting to color over it at all. What is dry to the touch can still bleed with watercolors, other inks, and alcohol based markers. Once it's dry, though, it is solid as a rock.
