Speedball Linoleum Cutters are made of the finest quality steel with long lasting cutting edges.
Speedball Linoleum Cutters fit holders for standard Speedball lettering pen nibs. With firm printmaking materials such as linoleum, where a palm grip is needed, use them with the Speedball Linoleum Cutter Handle. With soft printmaking materials, a standard pen holder such as the Blick Pen Holder can be used.
Cutters are available in packages of 2 or boxes of 12. (Cutters cannot be assorted.)

Great starter tool set
Great starter gouge set. I know lots of people who use these tools as their main set. I recommend honing the blades frequently, the cheaper metal nicks easily. Would not recommend for use on wood.
Cutters Get Stuck
By 5/6th Grade Teacher
I have the Essdee lino cutters as well as the Speedball cutters, but the Speedball cutters get stuck after you've tightened them into the cutter. I've had to disassemble the cutter completely and use a hammer and punch to get the ball to drop to release the cutter. This has not been helpful for use in a classroom either!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

these work great

I really think my kids eat these, but seriously they are strong and should last years. Now if they would quit trying to work on their prints at home...........sigh
sharp blades are a must for cutting linoleum
from Metrowest Boston, MA
Regarding price, I don't know of a competitive brand but these seem reasonably priced. I like the disposable blades so I can always have a sharp one. This is kind of like reviewing #11 Xacto blades. They do what they're supposed to do; I go through a lot of them so I like to buy in bulk.

This tool is perfect! All five blades are sharp and click into the handle easily. I use mine on soft-kut print blocks and it makes it so was to carve.
totally satisfied with my purchase!

Speedball Lino Tools are not speedy to change blades
By Art Class - Middle School
from Des Moines, IA
The blades stick in the heads and are not easy to switch out. I did not anticipate this as I have used other brands and they can be smoothly inserted and removed without much work. I have found that a pair of pliers might be handy when using these. I will not purchase this brand for classroom use again.

I love this product
from Honduras, CA
I use this product with my students in different class. They made a wonderful works with it.
Sturdy and precise
from Omaha, NE
I have been a classroom teacher for 16 years. I have tried the off-brand, less-expensive lino cutters and they do not work as well. The blades that are supposed to fit in the pen holders do not fit and can easily slip out. The Speedball cutters are sturdy and sharp. They fit comfortably in in the hand. The blades can be switched out with ease.My only complaint is the small piece that holds the blade snug can be easily lost by students, and then the cutter is no good. I wish they sold this piece separately as a replaceable part.
