dries too fast
By art docent

Comments about Speedball Fabric and Paper Block Printing Ink:
Might be nice for most projects but not if being used by elementary students. Paint dried so fast that we were unable to make prints and just switched to tempura paint. waste of money for our project
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Best price, not clumpy, great product! Be patient w/dry time
Use with soft rubber brayer, hard or soft lino, on soft surface for cotton/knit fabrics. Wonderful staying power, just be patient with the curing time!

Love these inks for linoleum prints on linen
from southern Vermont
I use these inks often and have had great success printing everything from T shirts to linen napkins with my linoleum prints. Easy to use, great coverage, and super easy to clean up with soap and water. They hold up wonderfully through many many washes and I have no complaints.

Worked great on tshirts!
By Bonobo printmaker

I used ink on wood blocks and they worked great-- not as good with my linocuts. May have to cut deeper. Linocuts worked great with oil based ink on rice paper though. The extender really smooths the print out on cloth-- def add this if you want a smoother look. Sadly my order was wrong and they sent 2 of the wrong colors. But I was in a time crunch and no time to fix the mistake. Luckily I ordered extra and all is well.
Best ink for block printing on fabric!
If you have tried block printing on fabric you will know that many inks do not work. I use this ink for block printing on 100% cotton with a Richeson etching press. I find I get the best color saturation with a small amount of ink spread very thinly with a hard Brayer on a fabric that has been lightly misted with water. If too much ink or too much water it can bleed. You do have to work the ink with your knife a bit before rolling it. Love the color selection--and the metallic is very good-looking. I really love that it is soap and water cleanup. Cannot stress enough! Far better than mineral spirits. The smell is pretty benign when it cures. Also customer service at speedball is very responsive. I put in a call with questions and the rep checked with the lab and got back to me. This is working out well for my purposes. The only other thing that worked was Drive By Black but it only comes in black and is mineral spirits cleanup and they have never gotten back to me after I called with questions so this gets my vote on every count.
Purple did not work well
I have used the black and white Speedball Fabric block ink in the past and it worked well. I recently ordered turqouise and purple. For some reason, the purple did not seem to print well. Overall, the ink is fine. I will stick with the black and white I think.
Merchant response: We're sorry to hear that the purple ink isn't printing well, and we encourage you to work with one of our Product Specialists to troubleshoot this. Just call 1-800-933-2542 (8am-5:30pm CST M-F) or email firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to hearing from you!
I will be purchasing this product again!
I used this ink to print a woodblock on a T-shirt I ran through my etching press . It dries in a day or two and seems to hold up in the wash.
Great for student projects

This dries much faster than other oil based inks that clean up with soap and water. Excellent in a classroom situation or for making t-shirts.

A little dab'll do ya!
from Rockport, texas
This product is being used to stamp fabric. Indian wood blocks, metal tjaps, rubber stamps, acrylic stamps and my own craft foam stamps were all inked with this product. The thickness makes it easy to achieve a clean result with no runny edges. Truly only a small amount is necessary making it a real bargain product as other inks made for this purpose are runny needing more ink on the stamp which can leave globs. I mixed white with som tubes to lighten the ink, but mixing colors is sort of pain unless you need a large amount.Make sure you let the inked piece cure for a couple days. Hand of fabric remains fine.
