I bought a 2.0 and a 2.5 mm to use for scripting names. The tips are hard and the ink doesn't flow very well, so it's difficult to get a consistent, dark stroke.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

FIRST time I tried this brand. It is too dry and you have to press really hard--and still don't get a good line. Perhaps these were old. Or maybe not well made.I would like to know about a better product. Pls let me know.

The class is using these Elegant Writers to do a drawing & painting "all in one" for their project. We love the way the pens bleed colors when touched with water as demonstrated By Karlyn. the pens are also used to write in formal calligraphy as they label their final pieces. Love these!
Love these pens
from Olympa, Wa
These pens are wonderful to use when creating a tonal sketch. Just draw what ever you want then use a damp brush to activate the ink. It creates a nice bleed of the ink that fades out at the edge. Once the ink has been activated and allowed to dry, it will not reactivate when more water is used. This is very cool as it's a great way to use these pens with watercolor.
Lots of fun
I do not use these as calligraphy pens so I can't rate them on those characteristics. After seeing a well known watercolor artist use these in some videos on untube, I purchased these to try using her methods. She looked like she was having a great time playing with them and I did too. Just lightly draw the subject then use water to bleed the lines. These black pens bleed green and pink. While what I have created with these is definitely not like those of the artist on utube, I have enjoyed playing with these.

I sketch something out on watercolor or mixed media paper, then wet the lines with a watercolor brush. The ink bleeds black with a turquoise and pink color. Fun to play with. (Once activated and then dried, it won't bleed again.)Search you youtube for this product to see what can be done with it.An inexpensive art tool to play around with!

This is a fun product to use. I wish I had specified the tip size, as I didn't realize there were options...I would have chosen 'very fine'. I haven't used the colored ones yet.
