Love these pens
from Olympa, Wa
Comments about Speedball Elegant Writer Calligraphy Markers:
These pens are wonderful to use when creating a tonal sketch. Just draw what ever you want then use a damp brush to activate the ink. It creates a nice bleed of the ink that fades out at the edge. Once the ink has been activated and allowed to dry, it will not reactivate when more water is used. This is very cool as it's a great way to use these pens with watercolor.

Lots of fun
I do not use these as calligraphy pens so I can't rate them on those characteristics. After seeing a well known watercolor artist use these in some videos on untube, I purchased these to try using her methods. She looked like she was having a great time playing with them and I did too. Just lightly draw the subject then use water to bleed the lines. These black pens bleed green and pink. While what I have created with these is definitely not like those of the artist on utube, I have enjoyed playing with these.

I sketch something out on watercolor or mixed media paper, then wet the lines with a watercolor brush. The ink bleeds black with a turquoise and pink color. Fun to play with. (Once activated and then dried, it won't bleed again.)Search you youtube for this product to see what can be done with it.An inexpensive art tool to play around with!

This is a fun product to use. I wish I had specified the tip size, as I didn't realize there were options...I would have chosen 'very fine'. I haven't used the colored ones yet.

I just discovered a new use for these pens as an easy way to put in background color in spots of drawings. It is so easy, permanent and is beautiful.

Calligraphy without a mess

we used these for a calligraphy workshop for all ages. Some people really found these much easier to learn with than the pens you dip in ink. I love them, and they were helpful for quick demonstration. Only problem we had with ordering 24 pens was that two of them were already dried up....not sure how to remedy that one.
Merchant response: We apologize for the dried pens, and we're happy to take care of that for you. A member of our Customer Care Team will be in touch to further assist you.

I like these quite a bit
from Kokomo, IN
I didn't really like how scratchy these pens are when you write, and it seems like the ink doesn't flow very smoothly at times. That said, I still like these pens quite a bit... I'm using them for sketching and then when I watercolor on top of them, the ink sort of dissolves and creates lovely green and pink colors. I have a feeling I'm going to buy these several more times.
