reliable glazes, always work!
from Gainesboro, Tennessee
I fire all kinds of clay bodies and atmospheres. For low fire work, these glazes always work. Watered down or thick they always perform. And the clear is never cloudy.

Speedball glazes on earthenware
Excellent for Elementary!!
By Valerie E.
from Ann Arbor, MI
I teach elementary school, and these glazes are I love these glazes. Most of the colors aren't the garish tones you see in other low-fire brands, even the custodian remarked on how pretty they are. The jars are fantastic, the wide base and mouth means easy cleanup and no spills, and the glazes aren't runny at all. Most of the glazes look like the color they will become after firing, and there isn't any of the normal confusion kids have when royal blue looks pink. When the glazes get low, I am able to let them dry out, crack the sides of the jar, and rehydrate for zero waste. The colors stay mixed well, I have never had the glazes harden and turn into an un-stirrable rock like other brands have. The names of the colors are printed clearly by the barcode, making it easy for kids to see what they are using. In the past, I had to pour glazes into separate containers, but the packaging couldn't be more perfect. My only criticism is that the orange is a bit garish, but yellow-orange is lovely! Never change, Speedball!!
I used this glaze for some wheel-thrown bowls and the colors turned out bright, glossy, and just what I wanted. There were no surprises and my bowls turned out great!
I will continue to get this product.

Better Than I Expected!
By Time for Art
from Traverse city, MI
I ordered several colors of Speedball glaze and was very apprehensive when the glazes arrived. The consistency is not what I have been used to--sort of gelatinous. I fired my elementary students' large, delightful "face pots," praying the glaze would turn out. Wahoo! It was wonderful! We used red clay and the effects are stellar. The colors are great and ever so lightly translucent. I much prefer this glaze now to the completely opaque glazes I have used in the past and will order again!
Love their INK and love glazes EVEN more
By Art teacher Joanie
from Florissant, MO
I teach middle school and no matter how often I would explain with other glazes that, "The color on the jar IS the color the glaze turns out--- AFTER it has been fired! Really!" Kids never really caught on to the chemical changes that occured. They'd get a project back and not understand the color changed. With Speedball the color IS the color after the firing. Sure it's glossy now and much brighter but the blue glaze they painted on is now the SHINEY blue glaze they were hoping for. Once I discovered that Speedball did more than screeenprinting inks I was hooked. It's all I order now!!!!
