Speedball Ceramic Underglazes feature bright and intense colors that are highly saturated for spectacular results. Compatible with Speedball Earthenware Glazes, they can be used for a variety of decorating techniques. They can be applied to both greenware and bisque and can be blended. Originally designed to perform in a wide firing range (Cone 06-6), they can be successfully fired at Cone 10.
The liquid, opaque colors will not move or bleed, making them perfect for detailed painting, design work, and sgraffito. Because they're lead-free and clean up easily with water, Speedball Earthenware Glazes are ideal for classroom use.
These underglazes are dinnerware safe when used and fired as directed. However, tableware producers should have finished ware lab tested to determine dinnerware suitability due to firing variances and contamination.

Comments about Speedball Ceramic Underglazes:
I love Speedball underglazes, they're the only ones I use in my studio. The colors are always nice and bright, and they blend together very smoothly which is great for ombré effects or more painterly designs. The colors stay true at every temperature I've fired them to (usually cone 10).
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great depth of color
For a classroom paint, the depth of color is great. This is also the best deal I researched.

Good color but chunky
from Tuksa, Ok
I really love speedball glazes and all the other ones I have bought were great! But the last two I bought tan and brown were full of chunks that endless amounts of shaking the bottle would not solve had to put in a blender!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: Thank you for reaching out! As they sit unused, glazes will separate and, depending on mineral content, the glaze particles may "flocculate," or clump together. This does not affect the final performance of the glaze. You can use an immersion or "stick" blender to even out the consistency, or you can use a sieve to strain the glaze. I use this product when working with terracota as an underglaze and I love it! The glaze never drips and is easy to etch in designs or use to accent the piece. I highly recommend this to anyone in ceramics who is looking to enhance their work or to just experiment with it.
