I have three sets of these flat files in three sizes. They are well built, attractive (depending on how you finish them), the drawers slide easily even when full and they last forever. These shelves do exactly what they are designed to do and they look good doing it. I prefer the look of wood over metal. The price is reasonable for the quality of the product.

The cap and base are overpriced in my view so I order the cabinet only and then make my own cap and base. It isn't hard. The only other drawback is that you have to wait for them; it takes several weeks for delivery. Don't expect the delivery guy to help get them out of the box...he won't, so have help standing by. Do NOT pay the extra for the extra shipping options; it is not worth the money.

I have bought three of these files so I highly recommend them.

I had seen a 3-drawer flat file with casters and a glass top being used as a coffee table in Blick's Winter 2003 catalog, but hadn't had the opportunity (or the money) to do it until now.

I just finished putting it all together, and it's going to work! It looks great in my living room, in front of a clean-lined Ikea leather couch. Now I just have to finish the birch in a darker cherry finish to match my end tables and get a glass top, and I'm done.

I did get the casters from an online company that specializes in them; the casters Blick sells are much too small.
