Welcome to dickblick
These sets are a superb introduction into the historical world of genuine earth tones, and ancient and contemporary pigments, such as Hansa Yellow, which are no longer being utilized by most major artist paint manufacturers.
Sets feature convenient sample sizes of these rich pigments in 50 g jars of the most popular colors, with instructions included on how to make paint.
Complete Set of 15 Colors

Solid starter set
By Starhorse Studio
I ordered this set to do model horse customizing. Overall, very pleased with the color selection. Did end up having to order one or two 'supplemental' colors directly from Sinopia, since this set has no black, and both yellows are pretty transparent and are difficult to build up. Would like to see individual colors offered through Blick! They come in very nice glass jars that look beautiful in my studio and aren't a packaging eyesore. The openings of the jar are big enough to get a pastelling brush in and tap off excess pretty well. Overall, a great start that I will probably add to to better tailor to my needs.

Great Quality & Great Price!
I purchased the Historic Set of 8 colors for use on my model horses. It was a fantastic starter set for me as I wasn't sure which colors to pick and choose for my applications. Very good quality pigment that is lasting me a very long time. I do wish they came in more colors and separately on the DickBlick site. You'd have to go directly to Sinopia and they are pretty pricey individually. I'll probably end up going with a different brand when I need new colors or to refill. Also do note that these are sold by weight so each jar varies in contents. For example the "Caput Medium" was literally 1/3 of a jar full (most likely because it is a heavier pigment). Overall, I'd definitely reccomend these if you're looking to give pigments a try. It's a good earth tone starter set set for a good price.
