For students, amateurs, and professionals alike, Simply Simmons Brushes offer excellent performance, dependability, and value — all at one low price, no matter what the size. They are handmade by skilled craftsmen to meet the same high standards that artists have come to expect from the Robert Simmons name.
Available in Round, Flat Wash, and Oval Wash shapes, these Short Handle Brushes are designed especially for work in watercolors, featuring a specially constructed mix of synthetic hair to suit the demanding techniques used by watercolor artists.
The brush heads are resin-bonded and crimped to kiln-dried, lacquer-dipped birch handles using seamless brass and aluminum ferrules. This ensures a permanent fit that does not loosen, even with repeated use.
Simply Simmons Brushes are easy to recognize by their distinctive shiny black ferrules and pearlescent white handles. Reach for them when you need a brush that's well-made, durable, and affordable.

The Short Flat Wash Brushes are Best in the category
Comments about Robert Simmons Simply Simmons Synthetic Mix Watercolor Brushes:
I really like the short handle 1" flats. They are the workhorse of my acrylic painting. They are not limp and retain a nice spring keeping their shape. They are very durable and the handles don't fall apart even when left in water. These are great for students who can sometimes abuse brushes. As for the round brushes, they are just as durable but the bristles don't hold their shape as well tending to lose their point after awhile. Overall, they are a solid value.

Excellent for watercolors!
Nice moderately priced watercolor brush
from New Mexico
We needed a nicely priced watercolor brush for our students. Even though I would call it "student grade" I can recommend this brush and brand for any level of watercolor artist.
Great for beginners
Great starter brush for learning watercolours.

Wow! Nice brushes for the price!

These brushes are great! I teach a beginning watercolor class and was looking for a brush that was economical but still had good quality. These brushes are fabulous, not only for beginners, but everyone.I use synthetic brushes in my beginning watercolor class as an easier way to teach water control. This brush holds water but not as much as a standard watercolor brush giving the watercolor student more success with each class. I'll be back for more!

this is a great brush for a very inexpensive price. the 1" wash now has a plastic handle which is great. If you use a wooden handle with water media the handle will swell and contract and the paint chips off. Plastic is better in this case.
Buy then all!
All Simply Simons are good brushes. I've collected most of there line and are the only brushes I use.

Wonderful watercolor brushes
from River Forest, IL
I use these brushes for watercolor and they are my favorite. Great loading and holding capacity as well as wonderful spring to point. I wish they came in more sizes and types. I have sampled so many synthetic, natural and combinations. While these are synthetic they are the best. Was told synthetic load and unload too quickly for good control, I have not found that to be true of these brushes. I have no downside to these brushes.

Really dependable brushes
from Providence RI
These are the brushes I use for all my beginners and intermediate watercolor classes. Each student starts with just one of these, a #14. It's a great all around WC brush. Keeps its shape nicely. Has a good point for any details (which I discourage in beginners anyway) and I often use them myself. I highly recommend.

I will try the Dick Blick retail outlets for the brushes that were not available online. They will be at locations I travel to.
