For students, amateurs, and professionals alike, Simply Simmons Brushes offer excellent performance, dependability, and value — all at one low price, no matter what the size. They are handmade by skilled craftsmen to meet the same high standards that artists have come to expect from the Robert Simmons name.
These Short Handle Mop Brushes are designed especially for work in watercolors and inks, featuring fine-quality, unbleached goat hair. Offered in a choice of Round or Oval shapes, they're ideal for high-load, wet techniques.
The brush heads are resin-bonded and crimped to kiln-dried, lacquer-dipped birch handles using seamless brass and aluminum ferrules. This ensures a permanent fit that does not loosen, even with repeated use.
Simply Simmons Brushes are easy to recognize by their distinctive shiny black ferrules and pearlescent white handles. Reach for them when you need a brush that's well-made, durable, and affordable.

This is a cheap brush and it shows. I bought the oval mop for an oil painting class. I haven't even used it yet and the bristles are already falling out. I'm going to return it and invest in a decent brush.
Merchant response: Thank you for your review. It's actually not uncommon for new brushes to shed a bit at first, and our Product Specialists are happy to advise on how to prepare a new brush for painting. Just call 1-800-933-2542 (8am-5:30pm CST M-F) or email firstname.lastname@example.org.

I purchased this for use with watercolors and while is spreads color nicely it leaves a wake of bristles across your stroke. Sure you can pick them out but you are going to compromise what you are creating in order to do so. If on a budget I suggest spending just a little bit more on a different mop brush to get something you can use for the long run. I have had this brush for three months and have used it thinking that eventually the bristles would stop coming out, but no such luck - this one is going in the trash.
Merchant response: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with this brush. With goat hair brushes, it's important to actively remove loose hairs before you begin painting. This is a good practice for brushes of all hair types, but with goat hair especially, you can expect a significant number of hairs to be shed initially. For more information on the best ways to remove them, please feel welcome to reach out to our Product Information Team. Product Specialists are available weekdays from 8am to 5:30pm CST at 1-800-933-2542 or email@example.com, and they're happy to advise you! Of course, if the brush simply won't stop shedding, we'll be glad to help with a return or exchange.
Blurring the lines
from Hayden, ID
This brush not only is easy to clean it maintains it's integrity. Using the mop brushes to blur hard edges and blend my oils has been a great addition to my painting skills. Thank you, Willeen

Simply Simmons Goat Hair Mop
I am very disappointed with this brush. Will not stop shedding. I purchased two Simply Simons brushes in different sizes. One white and one black goat hair. This one is terrible it sheds so much I can not even use it for watercoloring. The white 1/2 " one is perfect. Am considering throwing this black goat hair in the trash.
Merchant response: Thank you for your review! Although goat hair brushes tend to shed more than brushes of other hair types, even goat hair brushes should stop shedding after the first few uses. One of our Customer Care Representatives will be reaching out to assist you further.

I liked the way color went on paper. More color for a longer period of time. It was disconcerting though to see hairs coming out when I first used it.

Waste of money
from Rio de Janeiro
Even though it was really cheap, it was a waste of money. Like the other reviewer, I found that it left hairs all over the paper. I tried a couple of times and then just threw it in the trash.

I'm new into watercoloring, so I got this brush due to a tight budget for water washes. I can't use it at all. The bristles fall off without me even pressing hard. It's unusable, but hey.. that's what you get for low priced items (most of the time).
