Can take some «abuse»
Comments about Silver Brush Ruby Satin Synthetic Bright:
I had a special oil painting need when I chose to try this brush: scrubing, scribbling,... In the end, it can take some amount of «abuse» if taken care of.
I am a professional artist and I use Ruby Satin brushes for traditional oil painting as well as for acrylics. They perform beautifully for both mediums, keep their shape nicely, and are very long lasting. I've had some of mine for years. I highly recommend this brand.
Good Brushes to Use for 'standard' oil painting
from Reno, NV
Good thing I ordered them before I read 'some' of the negative 'con' reviews. They came [two days earlier then shipment order said]; took some time using others I was working with; than thought I'd better give them a go... The ones I used did something I has never experienced... when I washed them [mineral spirit and Fels-Naptha soap] at the end of the painting session; they took their shape better than when I first started. I use 'standard' oils only with Liquin and 'real' turpatine.
Don't use with conventional oils
from Houma, LA
Bought mine several years ago after painting only a few years, in oil. Made the mistake of using them with oils and the bristles flayed in several directions. May be OK with water media, but I wouldn't invest in these expensive brushes for oils. Robert Simmons White Bristles are much better and a much better deal.

Keep their shape!
from New Mexico
Comments about Silver Brush Ruby Satin Synthetic Filbert Series 2503:
I use these brushes with water soluble oils, and wash them in water as I'm painting. But after I'm done, I use an artist's brush cleaner, and they stay nice and flexible, with a sharp edge and bristles that retain their form.

These Ruby Silver Satin are the best brushes I have ever used. They clean up like they are brand new.

Unlike other reviwers I do not like these brushes. For oil painting they are good for a first time use. After a few painting sessions, its ones nice pointy filbert shape will turn in to a thick fan brush. It doesnt matter how thoroughly I clean them, they will not hold shape. Now the whole set I bought is useless for a presision painting. Nevertheless, my teacher, very respectable and successful artist uses only these brushes and recommends them to everyone.

from N.O. LA
Extremely well made and doesn't lose the spring and shape in the bristles.
