This is a crisp edged brush with enough flexibility to create a varied stroke should you wish. I am an oil painter and like a " blocky" style, so thef lat, clean edges are great and they seem to hold their shape well with cleaning. So far, so good!

I paint in acrylics and am a brush's worst nightmare. I abuse them, leave them in water for days but these Brislons don't seedm to notice. They keep their shape and stiffness and give me more painting control than I've ever had before. You've got to try these and see for yourself.

I'm primarily an oil painter and usually prefer bristle and red sable brushes. A friend recommended these brushes because of the sharp chisel edge. The chisel edge is wonderful and I love the snap this synthetic brush gives me. I have been painting many years and have quite a collection of brushes but these are the first ones I pick to paint with.

I've been a fan of Silver's Ruby Satin line of Brushes for years but I never tried these due to the fact that I prefer short handle brushes, and because I already have a large collection of long handle hog bristle brushes made by Silver which I rarely use.
I really wish I had not waited so long to try these. Simply put, they are the best brushes on the market. They have incredible stiffness, spring and resilience, better than the finest bristle brushes. They have good loading capacity and a natural feel unlike many stiff synthetic brushes. They are also virtually indestructible, the filaments have good heat and solvent resistance and the ferrule is triple epoxied like all silver brushes, I am very rough with my brushes and I have never had one fall apart on me.
I just wish they made these in more styles and in short handle like they do with the Ruby Satin line. For now, Ruby Satin remains my favorite go-to brushes but I find myself using Bristlon more and more.

The Bristlon brushes from Silver Brush stand alone in their class far above the rest. They are as stiff as the best hog bristles without the annoying habit of getting out of shape once the bristles have absorbed water. I no longer have to rotate through my brushes during a painting session to let the bristles dry to return to their original shape and size.

The brushes also survived two 10 year olds playing artist (much to Mom's horror when she discovered her precious brushes attacking cardboard boxes), some of my other brushes sadly did not survive the battle.

They work brilliantly for water based oils and acrylics straight out of the tube as well as thinned down for glazes. I could go on and on but just let me say try them, you won't be sorry.

This is a beautiful "swingy" brush while it's nice and strong enough for water-based oils in particular.

Over the past few decades I have tried oil/acrylic brushes from many of the major manufacturers. Bristlon are the stiffest I have found and provide me with excellent control. I'm using them more and more for general painting needs.
