Welcome to dickblick
A refined, white linseed oil which contains no free mineral acids, lead, or artificial dryers. It serves to diminish the thickness of paint.
The consistency is thinner than that of sun-thickened linseed (stand oil), and the oil may darken with age.

Why does it smell so bad?
By Druh Ireland
from Vancouver, Canada
Comments about Shiva Linseed Oil:
Most inexpensive linseed oil I could find. Bought a gallon, but I won't buy it again. The color is very light, which is good for my whites and blues, and the texture is good. However: it smells like the oil was extracted with a REALLY strong solvent. Unpleasant to use.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I have & would buy this product again
By east mountain red

As a professional artist for over 20 years I have found that Shiva Linseed oil is probably the best in the market today and at a reasonable price. I have used others but always come back to Shiva.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
