Welcome to dickblick
Sennelier uses only the purest pigments, mixed with minimal amounts of natural binders, in an exclusive formula that yields lightfast, water-soluble pastels. There is just enough binder to hold the pigment together as the pastels are formed by hand, placed in special molds, and allowed to air dry. No fillers or clays are used.
Sennelier soft pastels are highly concentrated and so soft that a gentle stroke will deliver a solid, powerful line of brilliant color. Sticks are 2½" long × ½" in diameter (64 mm × 13 mm).

My Favorite Pastels
By Solo Canoer
from Adirondack Mountains, NY
Comments about Sennelier Soft Pastels:
I have more of these than any other brand of pastels. They are just right in softness for me. I can layer them more than the softer brands. The consistency is good, the quality, too. The price is right too. I also like the lack of toxicity. (I hope that is accurate.) I like to buy pastels without the toxic warnings. After all, there is pastel dust all over the area I work in.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Sennelier Soft Pastel Sets:
They're expensive, but worth it--color is rich and texture smooth. Fat sticks have their challenges.

High Quality, Rich Colors and Easy Application
from Los Gatos, CA
I absolutely love the richness of the Sennelier Pastels! I recently painted a reproduction of a Rembrandt Peale painting and decided to use the Sennelier Pastels on my LaCarte' surface. I felt like I was able to capture the deep rich colors as used by the Masters. Just keep in mind that a little bit goes a long way when applying your pastel colors. These may be a bit pricey, but I seriously feel for the quality of paintings it is so worth it in the long run.
This is a great pastel set
from Belleview, Florida
I've been rediscovering pastels after a layoff of 25 years or so. Now that I've retired, I can begin my drawing hobby all over again. I've had an old set of pastels, that are still good but are medium hard to hard. I wanted to try true soft pastels and the Sennelier Soft Pastel Sets that I bought are wonderful. I picked up the half sticks 80 piece assortment and the 40 piece portrait assortment and love them both. Highly recommended.

Yum's the Word!
By Julie B wanna retire
from Lexington, KY
I felt like a child at Christmas when I opened my package and there they were! The half stick set of Sennelier soft pastels were perfectly intact and luscious. The word that comes to mind is "Yum!" I have a set of full sticks, but love the feel and consistency of the half sticks. They are fatter and do not crack apart when the paper is pealed because they aren't wrapped. And the Senneliers always go on like "butta."
