Welcome to dickblick
Sennelier uses only the purest pigments, mixed with minimal amounts of natural binders, in an exclusive formula that yields lightfast, water-soluble pastels. There is just enough binder to hold the pigment together as the pastels are formed by hand, placed in special molds, and allowed to air dry. No fillers or clays are used.
Sennelier soft pastels are highly concentrated and so soft that a gentle stroke will deliver a solid, powerful line of brilliant color. Sticks are 2½" long × ½" in diameter (64 mm × 13 mm).

Comments about Sennelier Soft Pastels:
SENNELIER PASTELSIt happens very often that the sticks instead of being soft are dried out and hardand when you BUY a box of 500 you cannot check them all and it's only much later that you discover the fact

Gotta love the intensity
By Studio D

The only thing I don't love about these pastels is their fragility. BUT it is the lack of excess binders that makes the colors so intense! Pure pigment and a joy to blend. They also can keep a line even though they're soft.
Happy to purchase online!

Sennelier pastels are a great value and a good price. Other brands are bigger, softer, more expensive but not much better for the art that I do.

Rich colors at your fingertips

Love the richness of color. A lot softer then Rembrantadt brand but once you get used to it love the look & texture. Definitely a great buy!
Beautiful but some fall apart
By Purple Queen
from Hayward, WI
I ordered the set of pastels to use on sanded paper. Generally, I am happy with the colors. But several of the sticks have crumbled and fallen apart during use or when removing the wrapper so I've lost the value of buying the set. Someone suggested that I return the crumbled ones but they were purchased in a set. I've started buying individual sticks since and trying out other brands like Blicks, which are really nice, already in half-sticks, not requiring tedious unwrapping.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Velvety, Smooth and Rich Colors!
from Los Gatos
When I first started using pastels I used pastel pencils and then a friend bought me a box of Prismacolor Nu-Pastel sticks. Then one day while chatting with another artist on Facebook about a remarkable painting he had done I asked what type of pastels he used. He told me he used Sennelier Pastel sticks. I went to my nearby art store which happened to have some of the Sennelier sticks and I bought a few to try out. I was hooked! I didn't like their price so I checked and found them here online through Dick Blick for almost half the price as that in the store!I feel Sennelier Pastels give me rich paintings and some say it is hard to tell if my paintings are in pastel or oil paints due to the rich velvety colors. They always seem surprised when I tell them it was done in Pastel. I am currently painting some Master Reproductions with my Sennelier Pastels. I will attach a couple of photos of them. You can't beat Dick Blick's great prices and quick delivery. They are also wonderful if you don't like a product at exchanging it for something else. I am really happy with their online service.
