Unmatched in their softness and consistency, Schmincke soft pastels were created using the finest artist's pigments and a minimum of binders. The softness of the pastels permits a beautiful dense application, and the extremely high pigment concentration results in great color intensity.

Schmincke Pastels are prepared by hand and by traditional machines, and also labeled by hand to help prevent breakage. Schmincke Artist's Pastels are approximately 2-5/8" long × 7/16" in diameter (67 mm × 11 mm).

Earth Assortment with FREE Pad — This set contains six soft pastels, including one each of Ochre Light, Olive Ochre Deep, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Green Earth, English Red, and Vandyke Brown.

Fire Assortment with FREE Pad — This set contains six soft pastels, including one each of Permanent Yellow, Vanadium Yellow Deep, Orange Light, Permanent Red 1 Pale, Vermilion, and Madder Lake.

Water Assortment with FREE Pad — This set contains six soft pastels, including one each of White, Ultramarine Light, Cobalt Blue Tone, Prussian Blue, Bluish Green Deep, and Cold Green 1.

I am so delighted to have these pastels, The colours are very nice and the pastels are very soft and smooth. I wish that I could afford an even bigger set. It is very expensive for us in South Africa with the exchange rate and import tax , but it is amazing to be able to order it all the way from the U S and have it deliverd within two weeks.

I use other pastel brands and still use them. I remember years ago I bought Schmincke and liked the colors and consistency of the pastels. So I have added the brand again to my other pastels and do not feel frustrated when I use the them (i.e. crumbling). It is a solid set for colors and consistency.

I bought this product after reading all the great reviews. I was very pleased with quality. They are very easy to blend and the colors are fantastic. I have not found any other brand as soft and easy to use.

Amazing pastels!

I am a cartoonist. I use pastels for backgrounds and some foreground detail.
These pastels are incredibly smooth and vivid. I can get beautiful blended backgrounds with the look I want - bright and bold, but not overwhelming so that the inking detail I do on clear overlays does not get lost.
These pastels are so rich in pigment I have experimented with different techniques to achieve the correct intensity of color I am after. It is possible to achieve varying graduations of color from one stick with some technique experimentation.
They are expensive, but a true joy to use. I look forward to each new work I create using these just for the pleasure they bring during my work!
