These are the best pastels I have ever used. I have been on a quest to find the pastel that worked best for me and tried nearly every brand you can think of. When I received the set of 75 Schmincke pastel half sticks I was blown away by them. They are soft yet strong enough for my - at times - heavy touch and the color is unmatched. I was surprised as I had always been told that French pastels were the best but in this case I recommend the German pastels.

I bought these to supplement my set of Rembrandts and others. These appear to be the softest pastels I have used and don't have the consistency problems of Sennelier. I use the Rembrandts now mainly for underpainting except when I need fine detail. I will make this my main brand.

This selection is very good for temperate region landscapes and still lifes.
