Love my new Palette set - albeit a bit to heavy for travel.

Pricey but worth it.
I bought the 24/48 tin and I am really enjoying it so far. you do have to buy the pans separately but in a way that was nice since I did a weird mix of full and half pans. the pans snap in and stay put while traveling. The only problem I have with the tin is that it flexes a bit when it is open which isn't much of a problem because I don't move it around when it's open that often and while closed the tin is solid.
Just what I wanted

compact with plenty of fold out room for mixing colors. half pans snap in easily and stay put.

I purchased the 48 half pan palette and after using it one day it has already started to rust. It also has some scratches on the mixing surface which let the paint permanently stain into them and the pans slide around inside even after tightening the holding tabs . It's made from very thin metal and it's way overpriced for the quality. Very disappointed
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: We're sorry to hear that this tin hasn't held up well for you. These case are made of sheet steel and have a baked-on enamel finish. If the surface of the box is not damaged, it is rust-resistant, but it sounds like there was some damage to the finish on the one you received. One of our Customer Care Representatives will be following up via email so we can help you with this.

Highly recommend but use a coupon code.
I bought this metal palette to replace my plastic Winsor & Newton travel palette. (Watercolor tends to bead and stain plastic and the pans were forever falling out and sticking to the lid of my W&N palette, not a fan.)I put off purchasing the Schmincke palette because it's quite pricey compared to other palettes in its category. But after researching cheaper alternatives I decided to bite the bullet and used a Dick coupon code. I have no regrets, LOVE this palette! Pans stay put, no staining, compact, and provides ample mixing area.Whilst well made, I'm docking a star because of the excessive price.

It is exactly what I was looking for. it is not light so doesn't feel flimsy in your hand. Really enjoy using it.
Expensive, but worth it!

I love to create my own palettes and whether I'm using Daniel Smith or Scmincke paints, these tins are the perfect place to store my little pans of color.
