I had heard so many good things from Sakura micron pens, so I was a little bit disappointed when I tried them out. They went down nice at first, the lines were constant, light and thin when I wanted them to be and bold and thick when I wanted that. They dry fast, except for the thicker brush tip which will smudge if you run your hand over it while inking but dries fine if you give it time. But then when I looked closer I noticed there were patchy, broken spots in my lines where the ink hadn't fully covered, mostly on the brush pen. If you push harder it covers even, but you don't always want a thick line like that and if you push too hard you can damage the tip.I have heard that these pens dry out too fast, but I haven't been using them long enough to comment on that.I have also heard that the lines lighten or lift when you erase over them, I did not experience any of that, my lines remained as I put them down when erased over. It's also nice to have the numbers on the caps to quickly find the pen you want. All in all, I think these pens are average and do the job when your practice and learn how to use them properly.

I love creating ink drawing, especially with a brush, but using that method I can't carry the supplies with me. Not only do these pens leave a nice dark line, they also look great and are portable. I would buy again.

LOVE THESE PENS!!
from Westchester, NY
LOVE these pens!! I have been using these beauties for many years now. I've tried others and tried new types coming out but my ultimate favorite marker pen to do everything with (writing, drawing, sketching, calligraphy, etc), are these Sakura type pen markers <3 I haven't found anything better including the super expensive ones which you know what I'm talking about. If you want clean, crisp lines especially in black, these are my favorites and I would highly recommend. They are so smooth and FEEL good when drawing. The smooth ink flow, the handling of the marker and nib is perfect!! Wonderful markers and priced well ~ I love these markers & have been using them for over 15 years! My fav's <3 Always worth it. I cannot live without them!!

I'm a beginner at manga but when I saw this set, I was like aw what the heck! And I don't regret it at all... These markers are great, great control; the only issue I have (why I gave it 4 stars and not 5) is that the smallest one started drying out right away.

I bought a set 6 months ago and bought a new one today... the set has a good variation of width, but i usually ink the drawings that i do with the pens two times and after a while the tip of the pens gets worn down... All in all its a product that i recommend:) (obviously since i bought a second set)

Not something worth singing about
from ABQ, NM
I draw manga and original characters pretty often. It's how I plan to make my living. So I got these pens with the thought that they would give me everything I would want from a pen. I don't ask for much. Black lines, a decent amount of ink on the paper and maybe a slight variation of width. So I bought these! The good news is they are waterproof, don't saturate the paper and seem to be fade proof, as advertized. They have a decent amount of sizes which can simulate line width variation with a little experimentation. The bad news? They don't lay on completly black without having to lay down multiple layers. Sure, you can adjust the contrast with a computer, but I'd rather save the computer for fixing smudges I made myself instead of fixing line work I thought was dark and... wasn't. When you erase your pencil work, they fade to a medium gray and you'd have to reink everything you erased over. When filling in large areas they cover well, but are more a dark grey until you add another coat.Maybe I'm picky from working on the computer up until recently. Still, I don't like using more ink on a page than I absolutely have to. It's a waste. This would be a great gift for beginning comic/manga artists. They're easy to use and don't make a mess. It dries quickly so you don't have to wait to clean penicls. Plus it comes with a very nice mechanical pencil with nice smooth lead. Sadly, there's no refills of the lead with the kit.For the more experienced, you can get a fine tipped Sharpie felt pen and get a more consistant black line. (It still fades, but not nearly as much as these.) You'll probably want to get your own pencil of choice, your own lead/sharpener and just have fun in the office section of some local stores.Me? Not the happiest, but I'll live with it.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
