It works as intended. I've only used it with water, but it hasn't leaked in my pencil pouch which I was nervous about, so thats a plus. It does suck a little bit of color back into the body, but I'm pretty rough on my brushes so that might factor into that. All in al, I'm a fan. :) I've used better water brushes, but for it's price you can't really beat it.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

LOVE these waterbrushes!
from Harpers Ferry WV
I have used Koi water brushes for my watercolors before. They are amazing! They release just enough water with each squeeze, but not too much. I love the small sized brush (vs. medium) because I can paint smaller areas with greater accuracy. I only need a baby wipe or a paper towel to change colors--I just squeeze out some water and wipe the brush to rinse it off. Great deal at DB's!
Just what I was looking for

I tend to get lots of ideas well traveling so I looked around for some good quality water loadable paint brushes and this one stood out; sturdy, does not leak and lays water down well. A very nice traveling brush. I was going to purchase a cheaper three set pack but I am so thankful I went for this!
Review of Sakura Koi Water Brush
from Tucson, AZ
I've never used water brushes before so they are like a new toy for me. They are also a convenient way to carry water to use with watercolor pencils when painting en plein air.
Precise, well-made and fun to use.

Enjoyable brushes to use and handy to take in the field. Great for precision and detail.
A definite must
I am just starting out with watercolours and this brush is wonderful. I use it with my prisms watercolour pencils and the control is great. It takes a couple of uses to properly figure out how to manage the water that is dispensed after a squeeze. All in all once I've gotten better at water colouring I will definitely be purchasing the small and large sizes.
My new standard sketchbook
from Gardiner, NY
The single-greatest irritation I find is trying to get a usable scan of a page in a sketchbook (yes, I know–that means my life is blessedly short on great irritations). When working out thumbnails or even pencils for a client in a sketchbook, trying to get a flat scan of a page is nearly impossible. Until these little gems came along.Solid Canson drawing paper and a totally lay-flat design help me immeasurably. Also, it's terrific fun to draw on.Highest recommendation.
Sakura Koi Water Brush
from Minneapolis, MN
I use the product with watercolor from a palette and used the paint on watercolor paper. The feel of the brush is nice and allows you to decide how much water you want mixed with the paint. The quality of the handle is not the best quality and the grip is not super great but it does the job.
Good for on the spot

Good to have on the road.
If you like water color but hate charging your brush...
from Marion Arkansas
The brush well holds plenty of water. I am not used to turning the brush the wrong way when I put the cap on. Its a neat little tool to use.
