I purchased the hot metallic colors set and the pens work beyond black backgrounds on white as well.
Can be used even on the lightest weight of paper (30lb) without bleed through or heavy impressions on the reverse. Even on white paper the colors glow and the sheen shows up and the outcomes are very appealing.
Only drawback is they are use and throw...which when we consider the environmental impact, makes these pens less appealing. Would be great if refills for the pens were possible.

I bought these to use for making Zentangles. The metallic pens flow well, and the nibs aren't too sharp, so I'm basically satisfied with them. The non-metallics, tho, have very fine, sharp nibs, and tear my sketchbook paper, and don't cover any kind of area well at all. The non-metallic black pens work better than the other non-metallics, but I prefer the Sakura 03's. I won't purchase the gelly roll pens again.

I used the silver color to write on black pages I made for a photo album. It did not bleed through the black paper and did not rub off...and it looks great. I bought more pens as it worked well for me.

Very colorful and vibrant colors. It is perfect for detail work.
The only thing i don't really like, is that some pens have a lot pf ink glop on the end and "spill" out and glop all over your art work D:
