A great quality pastel.
I am new to oil pastels and have only made about three pieces with them and have found that these pastels are a lot smoother and more easy to work with compared to my initial brand. They blend really well. In my sample of the still life, I didn't have to use turpentine to blend the colors together. The only draw back to them is they didn't seem to blend well with my other brand of pastels. That may be due too the quality of the other brand. I would recommend that if you do plan on blending them with others, that you do a trial piece first. These are great pastels and I would definitely consider them.

I use for drafting shading and area fills. Easy to use for needed purpose. Just not available in size that last for my purpose. Need a black and gray shade package...ALSO, used for sketching and fun art projects.Have always been satisfied with this product.
not sure yet
from louisville ky
I have not used these yet as far as a complete project with but just making a color chart . they have a firm feel to them but blend nice with stomp or rubber doodle stix. I have watched alot of you tube videos with others using this brand so got to try. Looking forward to using . I feel the firmness may help in getting detail with or drawing in. Colors seem strong.
LOVE CRAY PAS EXPRESSIONISTS OIL PASTELS

I bought a box of whites to have on hand, since I am always mixing with whites. The price and quality is just right.

This product compares to some of the more expensive brands. Colors are bright and blend nicely.

We use pastel class packs from another brand and the kids use up the blue color far too fast. Craypas is the only company where we can buy replacement pastels in bulk. Good quality just wish they were chunkier to last longer.

I don't think I've ever rated a product five stars, but these Expressionist pastels deserve it. I have some Senneliers which are, in fact, creamier. But not by as much as the cost difference would indicate. I bought the large set of craypas and am really happy with the colors especially for a landscape palette. I'm using these on relatively slick, hard papers and find they blend nicely.

Great Quality - but broke during shipping
By Gennie the Teacher
from San Mateo, CA
I bought two boxes of these oil pastels and in shipping, both boxes (which were flimsy cardboard) broke open and many of the crayons broke. Since I am using them with my 5 year-old students, it was ok, but I could see this very inconvenient for other artists. The pastels themselves were high quality and easy to use. Didn't smear too much.
Open stock is the best

I teach wine and canvas classes and I use oil pastels to add shading and to highlight areas. There are certain colors I can't like without - like VanDyke Brown. It's great that I can get the colors I need in open stock. Sakura is a good brand. Been using them for years.
