Imagine the freedom to paint just about anywhere! Cobra Water Mixable Oils are artist-quality oil paints that offer the freedom to paint indoors or outdoors, in studios, at academies, or in your living room. Painting with Cobra is the same as painting with traditional oil paints — however, you can mix the paints with water and no solvents are required.
Cobra paints can be applied using traditional oil painting techniques with no visible changes during the drying process — colors, brushstrokes, and applied textures remain unchanged after the paint has dried. They work well with brushes, painting knives, rollers, sponges, and more.
Cobra's versatility of application allows them to be used for creating opaque and transparent layers, watercolor wash techniques, alla prima, and glazing techniques. The colors offer a uniform degree of sheen and uniform drying time across the range.
The range consists of 70 transparent, semi-transparent, semi-opaque, and opaque colors that are highly lightfast, including 35 made from a single pigment. Ten colors are based on highly exclusive pigments, such as Cadmiums, Cobalts, and Chromium Oxides, as well as an exceptionally transparent Oxide Red and Oxide Yellow. Because Cobra oil colors offer the highest degree of lightfastness, the original colors will remain unchanged for at least 100 years under museum conditions.
During the grinding process, the high-quality Cobra pigments and oil are pulverized in a triple-roll mill until artist-quality fineness has been achieved.
Because Cobra Oils mix with water and don't require the use of toxic solvents, using them protects your health and the environment. Equipment and hands clean up easily with soap and water.
Cobra Water Mixable Oils offer exceptional pigmentation, a low evaporation rate, true water solubility, excellent brush stroke retention, and a sustainable paint layer.

Comments about Royal Talens Cobra Water Mixable Oil Color Sets:
I've been making the transition from WN watersoluable oils to Holbein Duo and Royal Talens Cobra. Love the paints, very rich and creamy. Unfortunately rather expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for. I use both brands because sometimes one brand doesn't have the colors that I want so I try the other. Both Holbein Duo and Royal Talens are the best on the market.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have tried almost every brand of water soluble oil paint over the years that is sold in the USA. This is the only brand that can sit in your art studio and not turn into concrete in the tubes. I really do not like using mediums (that's just me) and this brand lets me open a tube a year from now and it is just as creamy as it was brand new.
The best that oils have to offer.
from Rigaud, Quebec
Easy to use both with brush and palette knife. Easy clean up. Used for both portraits and wildlife.
Love these oils!
from Dallas, TX
I love these oils, they are creamy and do exactly what their makers say they do. Clean up is a breeze and they do well with water in making a wash when sketching out. The colors are rich, highly pigmented with a great selection of colors.
Royal Talens Cobra washable oils.
from Redwood City
Why use toxic oil paints when Royal Talons Cobra makes washable oils that are creamy and intensively colored-- and safe! You will really enjoy painting with these.
I like the flow and consistency of the oil paint
from Nevada, MO
It flows nicely, has great color, but does seem to darken a little over time. I will continue to use it.
The best water-mixable oils = Cobra
By Arty Carole
I have switched from acrylics to oil and was looking for oils that were easy to use as well as easier to clean. After much research I found these oils. They are great - color, assortment and mediums to complete using them. I also love ordering from Blick as I have always been happy with the price and service.

LOVE my new water miscible oil paints!
from Oklahoma City
I wish I had switched back to oils long ago. I didn't realize how great these new oil paints are. None of the chemical fumes to worry about anymore and clean up is so easy and quick!
Way to oily
from Archer, Idaho
I use the technique fingerpainting these water soluble oil's are so oily that oil pours out of the tube down the tube and all over my hands. These are a mess to work with this way. However if you were putting ithem on a pallet and using a brush they might work for you.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Love Royal Talens Cobra Paint!
from Dallas, Texas
I love Royal Talens oils, they are creamy, rich in pigment and have made my transition from Acrylics a smooth one. I love that they dry faster then a traditional oil but not too soon so I can go on to the next layer but still have time to blend. Cleaning is a breeze compared to traditional oils as well. I'm hooked!
