Imagine the freedom to paint just about anywhere! Cobra Water Mixable Oils are artist-quality oil paints that offer the freedom to paint indoors or outdoors, in studios, at academies, or in your living room. Painting with Cobra is the same as painting with traditional oil paints — however, you can mix the paints with water and no solvents are required.
Cobra paints can be applied using traditional oil painting techniques with no visible changes during the drying process — colors, brushstrokes, and applied textures remain unchanged after the paint has dried. They work well with brushes, painting knives, rollers, sponges, and more.
Cobra's versatility of application allows them to be used for creating opaque and transparent layers, watercolor wash techniques, alla prima, and glazing techniques. The colors offer a uniform degree of sheen and uniform drying time across the range.
The range consists of 70 transparent, semi-transparent, semi-opaque, and opaque colors that are highly lightfast, including 35 made from a single pigment. Ten colors are based on highly exclusive pigments, such as Cadmiums, Cobalts, and Chromium Oxides, as well as an exceptionally transparent Oxide Red and Oxide Yellow. Because Cobra oil colors offer the highest degree of lightfastness, the original colors will remain unchanged for at least 100 years under museum conditions.
During the grinding process, the high-quality Cobra pigments and oil are pulverized in a triple-roll mill until artist-quality fineness has been achieved.
Because Cobra Oils mix with water and don't require the use of toxic solvents, using them protects your health and the environment. Equipment and hands clean up easily with soap and water.
Cobra Water Mixable Oils offer exceptional pigmentation, a low evaporation rate, true water solubility, excellent brush stroke retention, and a sustainable paint layer.
Color Chart Note — Use this color chart as an approximation of the real color. If exact color matching is necessary, use actual samples of the materials.

Comments about Royal Talens Cobra Water Mixable Oil Colors:
I haven't actually painted anything more than a test or two. I'm converting to water miscible oils. I'm still trying to decide which brand works best for me. I recently read an article on line, sorry I don't recall her name, but she found this product to be highly pigmented and texture most like her original oils. Blick had them on sale so I've added a few to my collection. I have a large oil commission coming up so I'll know more then.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I switched to the Cobra paints about a year ago. I wanted to get away from using solvent, just a healthier choice. They work very much like traditional oils and the drying time is about the same too. I'm happy with them and plan to continue using them. I order them from Dick Blick for a few reasons, I haven't found a local arts store that carries them and I like ordering from Blick as its always a pleasant experience.

When I am getting ready to do a project the local art supplies always fall short on what I need. Blick has what I need and I can get it quickly. Everything arrives timely and shipped without delay or damage.

Creamy and substantial paint that covers and performs as oil paint but with the bonus of being able to use water as a thinner and for clean up.

I've been using water miscible oils for over 20 years now - had only one choice in the beginning (brand-wise)- just trying the Cobra now and finding it quite good and would recommend!

I tested a few and was satisfied enough to get a limited palate for a three-week painting trip to Greece. Since we were in less traveled areas and wasn't excited about carrying the solvents around, I decided on the water soluble oils. I had tried another brand years ago and was not really excited about them. The Cobra oils fully exceeded my expectations and I intend to use them more now that I am home. They were creamy and just what I hoped they would be. I have ordered more colors since returning and I am hoping they continue to come up with new colors.

I used this product with the same brand medium and the painting I painted 4 month ago it's still sticky.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: Many factors influence the speed with which oil colors dry—how much medium you add and what kind, the thickness of the application, ambient temperature, the substrate, and often, with many brands, the color of the paint. Please know that our Product Information Team is here to help with your questions on painting technique. Product Specialists are available weekdays from 8am to 5:30pm CST at 1-800-933-2542, and they're happy to help you!

I finally have found the Titanium Buff in water soluble oil paint ! I have been using that color for years, when I choose to work in acrylics. I was floored when I saw the price to be honest. I have been using the H2O Van Gogh paints along with the Max colors. Now, since your company has replaced that brand, I see the prices are quite excessive. I LOVED the Quinacridone rose..I am trying the Daniel Smith brand, since that is the only company that I can find that makes it in water soluble oil. The other colors that I used were the AZOs the yellow and orange. But, here again, the price is very expensive, I am on a fixed income, I do like my quality products, not because of a name brand, but the excellence of the product, I am on social security, and now that I am not working, I am taking advantage of my art education and my talent, it is very difficult to be able to purchase the items that I would prefer to work with.I thank you, JR
