Cobra Study Water Mixable Oil Colors offer students, beginners, and professionals on a budget an affordable way to experience the quality and convenience of Cobra Water Mixable Oils.
Cobra Study Oils can be applied using all the usual oil painting techniques, yet they require no solvents and clean up with soap and water. They perform in the same way as traditional oil paints, and provide great results with a uniform drying time. Rated with the highest degree of lightfastness, colors will remain unchanged for at least 100 years under museum conditions.
Cobra Study Oils are fully compatible with Cobra Oil Painting Mediums and professional-grade Cobra Oils. Cobra Study Oils are a student version of the popular Cobra Water Mixable Oil Colors, providing the same brilliant colors but with lower tinting strength and pigment concentrations. Each Study Color has a corresponding color in Cobra's professional color range.

smooth and nice to work with

Comments about Royal Talens Cobra Study Water Mixable Oil Colors:
A bit of oil was leaking from the tube when they arrived and when I first use them. I have changed over from Artisan as these Cobras are more in my price range. They feel a bit thinner than artisan, but are smoother as artisan always had some hard bits in them. I think I will quickly adjust to Cobras and I think I will like them very much when I get use to the thinner texture.

great quality for student grade
By Surfacing Artist

this was creamier out of the tube than other water miscible oils, which I like. Very good for a student grade paint.
This is a excellent Titanium White. Compared to other Water Miscible Oils I have used this one is creamier right out of the tube which I like. Feels more like a traditional oil paint. For a study version its very good.

I love this paint and the price. The only thing I would change is the cap. The cap is orange so it's confusing sometime when I go look for my "green" paint. Otherwise a very solid product. Very happy.

I was blessed to do a workshop with a Disney artist and he introduced me to the cobra paints, the ones I had brought to paint with were also oil base water-soluble but they were so thick and hard to get out of the tube they were terrible to work with. When I tried his it was like room temperature butter, the paint was so easy to work with. I've been painting for over 40 years so thanks Dick Blick, others places I tried didn't carry them.
Fabulous product and service
I need to use this kind of oil paint because of allergic sensitivities to ordinary oils. Cobra paints are the perfect water-miscible oils. They have luscious colours and texture. The service was also fantastic. I got these paints in Australia in less time than if I had ordered them within the country. Much appreciated.
Great paint with the benefits of water

These water based oils have great luster and clean up easily. I am a new oil painter and these paints help me produce a pleasing painting. I like that they are oil based and I don't have to use toxic smelly mediums with them.

Cobra Study Water Mixable Oil Color

I am just learning to paint in oils after mastering watercolors, acrylics, and oil pencil mediums. I figured with the high cost of oils, to start with a beginner's set at moderate cost. I like that linseed oil is the only odor or nuisance chemical in the paints rather than traditional oils, which can be dangerous to health and safety. The easy clean up is a plus, especially if you use a butcher's tray palette lined with waxed paper.I did a demo with the Willenbrink's and found that while Cobra wasn't as thick as Windsor and Newton's it still had the covering power that I wanted to do impressionistic work.I will continue to buy it and have discovered that oils are easier than what I expected because yo have time to correct your work there than acrylics and watercolors. It has made me free to experiment much more and enjoy myself in the process!

I really wanted to like these. I didn't expect them to be as great as the more expensive paints, but I was still disappointed. The consistency is very thin, and the pigmentation is weak. Because of this, they don't mix well with other paints or any mediums, even water. The color selection is good and I got a few tubes to fill in some holes in my palette, but for the price, it makes far more sense to get the Artisan or WOil paints and mix colors as needed.
