For the price of these synthetics, you'd be hard pressed to beat them. I bought a round set of 5 a few years ago, and have loved them ever since for watercolor and acrylic.

The metal ferrules are tightly crimped, so the brushes don't shed. Like most synthetics, these have good snap, and are just firm enough to work with. But they also come to a nice point and have pretty good carrying capacity. Not as nice as a sable brush, but for the price, you absolutely cannot complain. Most brushes at this price point are made of "camel hair" (which actually doesn't come from camels, but really means any miscellaneous hair) and will never come to a decent point. With these, I can still do reasonably detailed work, and I am not afraid of experimenting because ruining one of these brushes would not be too hard on my wallet.

Though they kind of got in my way, I can see the rubber grips working well for people with arthritic hands. For me, I feel like they kind of inhibit the range of motion I usually use with a brush, but for someone who has arthritis or another illness that makes holding a hard brush handle difficult, these would probably be great.

Taking care of brushes is pretty easy. While painting, don't let the brushes stand with the bristles down in the bowl of water--over time that distorts the shape of the bristles, and the water will seep up into the ferrule and loosen the glue that holds the brush together, making the bristles fall out. And when you're done, rinse out the paint as soon as you can. (This is especially important for acrylic paint because once it dries, it's like hard plastic, and it will ruin the brush.) Dry the brushes laying flat (not standing in a brush holder or cup--that lets water seep into the ferrule), and you're good to go!

Overall, I highly recommend these brushes for beginners who are starting out, and don't want to spend a lot of money on a brush, and also to people looking for a comfortable brush handle. They're of great quality, especially for the price.

I am 36 and have a progressive neuromuscular disease which has left my hands and fingers very weak and often numb/tingly. I have a hard time holding on to narrow pens, pencils and paintbrushes. But these paint brushes are just awesome - not only does the silicone grip add some thickness to the handle, but it adds some "grip," making it harder to slip out of my clumsy fingers. PLUS, I never ever find bristles in my work - something I cannot say about any other brand of paint brush I have ever used! Now, I am not a professional artist...I just like to do fun canvases and art journaling; but nonetheless, I paint several times a week - so I do give them a good workout. I absolutely LOVE these brushes!!

I purchased the texture set and it is a great deal. I use them with acrylics and the assortment is awesome. They're also easy to clean and because the handles are plastic i'm not worried about them expanding and the bristles getting loose.
