Great product for the price
from Lompoc, CA
I use these for liquid watercolors. They are nice, but wells are very small.
A must have in the secondary school art room!
By April Ski
from East Texas
Although I've gotten these cheaper at other, smaller art supply companies (for a dollar per palette+lid), when I need to get just a dozen or so to replace broken ones, I go through Blick because of convenience. I can't imagine running an art class without them. I've seen students use wax paper and cardboard to mix paint on but what happens after the 45 min art class? They throw the paint away??? *GASP*! I can't have it. So in the long run, I believe these actually save money by conserving paint and what's great is, when that child mixes the perfect color, they don't have to re-mix it the next day. The one wish I had is that the lid was made of similar plastic to the bottom plastic. Paint does not peal off, scrub off or wash off of it. Every year I swear I'm going to find something to coat on it so that it will clean off, but I forget. It really bugs some of my students that it can't get clean. The covers are also pretty cheap and will rip if a student works too hard at getting it off the palette. Knowing that they'll have the same palette the next year (if they return to art), makes them work harder at keeping it clean. I go ahead and have them write their name and class period in sharpie on both the top of the lid and the bottom of the palette and they are responsible for cleaning it and turning it in to me at the end of the year.
Great trays, worthless covers
By Middle School Art Room
from North Carolina
I love these plastic trays, they are sturdy enough, hold just the right amount of paint for a day's use in my middle school art room and are easy to clean up. This year I decided to purchase the accompanying tray covers and they are AWFUL. They are flimsy and do not fit the trays correctly. They are unusable and I will be returning them.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: We're sorry to hear that the covers to these trays were not to your liking, and we're happy to help with a return or exchange. Please look for an email from one of our Customer Care Agents who will be in touch to assist you.
Excellent little palette!
from Westfield, MA
These are especially useful with their clear plastic covers! Really helps to conserve paint for another paint session. Only complaint I have is that there seems to be two sizes of these in the world so covers are not universally used. Make sure which size of these palettes you use before ordering covers. Acrylic paint when let to dry in wells is easily removed by peeling it out. Makes clean up easy.

I teach high school art and love using these in art class. We cover them with saran wrap in order to save the paint.
Great for Students!
By Art Teacher Bell
Great for students to use. Durable.Wish they had 12 wells when teaching the color wheel.
Better than an ice cube tray!
from Tulsa, Oklahoma
For years I have used plastic Ice cube trays to mix and store unused paints. The ten well, round trays are perfectly balanced for use as a pallet and storage utensil. And clean-up is so easy, I just peal the dried paint off and discard. Thank you for making them available to us.
Round 10-well trays are a staple in the studio
By Beth in VT
These round 10 well trays are a staple in our middle school art rooms. When paired with the covers they allow tempera paint to stay relatively moist. We reuse these over and over again. The students add masking tape to the clear covers to label them with their names in sharpie.
Best art supplies ever!
from Port Huron, Michigan
I am teaching art this year and last year I spent huge amount of personal fund to supply my classroom ( as every teacher does). Black gave me the best prices so I could afford to purchase more supplies for this years students. I would recommend your products to everyone.
