Every Robert Simmons Signet brush is handmade using high-quality Chungking hog bristle, interlocked and deep-set in an extra-long, seamless, nickel-plated ferrule. Long beech wood handles are treated with five coats of lacquer.
Ideal for acrylics and oils, these resilient brushes are guaranteed for life.
Series 43, Egbert
The egbert brush is a longer version of the filbert. It holds more color, and it flexes. With skill, it can generate stylized strokes and curves that are not possible with any other brush.

I've tried them all
from San Francisco
Comments about Robert Simmons Signet Flat Series 40F:
I have tried almost all the natural bristle brushes and found these to be the best so far. Not perfect, however. I am probably very hard on brushes, especially the smaller sizes. You must keep them clean. I am still looking for the perfect brush, but in the meantime, I have bought several of these.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

These brushes were recommended to me and they are just as good as promised. And I thought they were a great value as well.

The brushes were recommended by my instructor and I like them. I am stickler for cleaning my brushes immediately after my session so they last longer.
from Houston, TX
I heard many recommendations of this brushes from great painters and I decide to purchase them. They are as great as their reputation!

I use these with oils.

I have used these Simmons Signet brushes for years. They are a less expensive alternative to Isabey or Escoda and with care, can stay soft and pliable. For plain aire oil painting, the larger flats (size 6 and up) are great, for portraits I use the size 4 filberts.

Does not have a nice sharp edge, which I expect in a flat
from St. Croix USVI
I use to paint acrylics and not a sharp smooth edged flat.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Robert Simmons Signet Round:
I was a fan of Robert Simmons Signets. But lately things have changed.ALL of the small round Robert Simmons Signet bristles brushes I have bought lately will not hold a tip. The Bristles are not laid in the ferrule correctly. No attention is paid to the natural curve of the bristle. Once the brushes are put to use the bristles curl off according to their natural curves which are NOT aligned so as to form a tip. What you end up with is a bush not a brush. Hence they are useless for rendering lines etc. I gave them an average rating because nearly all the brushes today suffer from the same lack of quality. Its sad that Robert Simmons Signets have now sunk this low
Merchant response: We apologize for the issues you're having with these brushes, and we'd like to help. One of our Customer Care Agents will be in touch to further assist you.
