Welcome to dickblick
If you value the good pointing, color handling, spring, and smooth application of natural sable with the durability and value of synthetic brushes, the Sapphire line is for you.
Handmade of the finest red Kolinsky hair and synthetic filaments, Sapphire brushes can be used with all media. They feature kiln-dried beechwood handles and precision engineered 22K gold-plated ferrules.
Long handles are recommended for easel style painting, while short handles are recommended for table-top painting where the artwork lies flat, especially with water media. Sapphire is available in a variety of classic brush shapes with both long and short handles.
Sapphire Pack Z
This set, designed for easel painting in oils and acrylics, contains three long handle brushes: Bright, Size 8; Round, Size 6; and Filbert, Size 6.
Brush sizes — The length and width of a brush of a given shape and size may vary by manufacturer as brush sizes are not standardized. Since fine art brushes are handmade, expect some variation even among brushes from within a single brush line.

1/2" angle brush all that I hoped for
from Lincolnton, NC
Comments about Robert Simmons Sapphire Angle Shader:
I'm very new to acrylic painting on canvas, so I went with the supplies suggested by a video series I'm learning from. I'm always worried about buying online for things like brushes, because you never really know what you're going to get, but I am very happy with this brush. It allows me to do exactly what the instructor on the video does with hers, which is key for my success and encourages my learning process. :) I couldn't be happier unless it painted on its own! :)

Great quality. Bristles hold together nicely and they are tough
Very good brush.

The Sapphire line (in my opinion) gives you great value for a very nice brush. It is not top of the line, but it really does a beautiful job and I get great results with my watercolors. I love this line and will continue to purchase different sizes from it as needed. My art teacher recommended this line and the sceptre gold. I have both in different sizes and can't tell a huge difference between them. I love and recommend them both.

New experience with a new brush (for me)

I have used Grumbacher's red Sable for years and recently ran out of their brushes and was unable to reorder but could not get them as they no longer make these brushes. SImmons is a replacement and I find it is good but not like my Grumbachers.
Ideal for Watercolor

I purchase large quantities of brushes for our University's art department. I find Blick has the best assortment of brushes, offering quality products and great pricing. I find the Sapphire S85 #8 brushes just right for general Watercolor purposes. Plus they happened to be on sale when I ordered!
Excellent, dependable brushes
from Denver, CO
I use Sapphire brushes for the majority of my work and have been pleased with how well they perform. They're the perfect balance of soft and stiff, allowing you to apply just the right amount of paint without leaving bristle marks. The brights, in particular, are especially useful. The bristles come to a very sharp edge, allowing for fine lines and finesse work.
Daler Rowney has a long tradition of brush manufacturing. These professional quality, hand-made brushes are
