If you value the good pointing, color handling, spring, and smooth application of natural sable with the durability and value of synthetic brushes, the Sapphire line is for you.
Handmade of the finest red Kolinsky hair and synthetic filaments, Sapphire brushes can be used with all media. They feature kiln-dried beechwood handles and precision engineered 22K gold-plated ferrules.
Long handles are recommended for easel style painting, while short handles are recommended for table-top painting where the artwork lies flat, especially with water media. Sapphire is available in a variety of classic brush shapes with both long and short handles.
Sapphire Pack Z
This set, designed for easel painting in oils and acrylics, contains three long handle brushes: Bright, Size 8; Round, Size 6; and Filbert, Size 6.

I purchase large quantities of brushes for our University's art department. I find Blick has the best assortment of brushes, offering quality products and great pricing. I find the Sapphire S85 #8 brushes just right for general Watercolor purposes. Plus they happened to be on sale when I ordered!

Excellent, dependable brushes

Comments about Robert Simmons Sapphire Bright:
I use Sapphire brushes for the majority of my work and have been pleased with how well they perform. They're the perfect balance of soft and stiff, allowing you to apply just the right amount of paint without leaving bristle marks. The brights, in particular, are especially useful. The bristles come to a very sharp edge, allowing for fine lines and finesse work.

Comments about Robert Simmons Short Handle Sapphire Round Series S85:
Haven't been using it for long but so far I'm happy with it. It's gentle on the paper, fairly soft and can be used in a juicy manner, though not quite as soft or wet as the all natural hair, providing a good balance. I got this after seeing my very experience and prolific watercolor teacher paint nearly entire pieces with it. Size 14 is his preferred size for 12 X 16 paper.
I KNOW THIS WILL BE A GREAT BRUSH BUT HAVEN'T HAD AN OCCASION TO USE IT JUST YET. ROBERT SIMMONS IS A BRAND I HAVE LEARNED TO TRUST SO I KNOW IT WILL BE GOOD!

Nice. Very nice for us who like a softer brush. Using them with Acrylics. After a year with some no wear. Gotta love that. Now if only Blicks would list them just not only under sets

Excellent quality brushes
By Watercolor Wanda
I have several of the watercolor brushes and they're excellent quality. They hold their shape well, have sharp edges, spring back into shape, and feel very soft. An excellent mix of sable and synthetic at a great price.
