If you value the good pointing, color handling, spring, and smooth application of natural sable with the durability and value of synthetic brushes, the Sapphire line is for you.
Handmade of the finest red Kolinsky hair and synthetic filaments, Sapphire brushes can be used with all media. They feature kiln-dried beechwood handles and precision engineered 22K gold-plated ferrules.
Long handles are recommended for easel style painting, while short handles are recommended for table-top painting where the artwork lies flat, especially with water media. Sapphire is available in a variety of classic brush shapes with both long and short handles.

the perfect brush for detail painting
By George DaVinci
from Los Angeles Cal
Comments about Robert Simmons Short Handle Sapphire Round Series S85:
I use Robert Simmons Sapphire Brushes all the time, except for this one, because it came in two pieces. However, my learning experience is that I should not had ordered single ones, out the set. When you order complete brush sets they are more protected in its own case. Nevertheless, I will keep buying this brushes on line and at my Blick local store as well.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

good brand of brushes for moderate price, price better than I found in local art store
Simmons brushes not what I thought
Comments about Robert Simmons Short Handle Sapphire Brushes:
I realize they are new brushes, but after a thorough cleaning and drying out I used them for painting a couple of watercolors and they were shedding in the paints on my paper and trying to remove the hairs ruined some of the paintings! Not happy with this.............
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: We apologize for the issues you're having with these brushes. Although it's normal for new brushes to shed a few hairs initially, it sounds like there may be more going on with yours. One of our Customer Care Agents will be reaching out to see how we can help.

I got the #1 round which I use for line work and filling in smaller areas. The brush holds a lot of ink/paint, it's are nice and springy, retains its shape well, and it is easy and responsive to draw with.
I would definitely buy these again!

Favorite first layer of oil brush
from Rocklin CA
Holds a good point. Most importantly does not have the hairs pull out when cleaning or painting. Really holds up well.
