Welcome to dickblick
Every Expression short-handled brush is uniquely constructed with a combination of different types and diameters of synthetic fiber, resulting in a smooth, soft feel with great resiliency, snap, and color-holding ability.
The brush hair is hand-shaped, then tied, glued, and hand-crimped into seamless, 22-karat gold-plated ferrules. Every beech wood handle receives five coats of matte, stain-resistant turquoise lacquer. Because they're generously sized and perfectly balanced, the handles also alleviate hand and finger fatigue during long painting sessions.
Originally designed for crafters and tole painters, Expression brushes are also ideal for fine art applications.

Substantial little brush
from Wild west, where art stores are rare.
Comments about Robert Simmons Expression Detail Spotter Series E81:
I have used this brush for fine detail with oil paints and it has worked well. I've cleaned it about ten times and it is holding up so far with no hair loss. The handle of the brush is a little heavier than other brushes and it feels quite substantial in my hand. I like it and can recommend it for fine detail. I've only used it a few days so far.

Comments about Robert Simmons Expression Liner Series E51:
I've used these brushes for years, and I use them a lot in my watercolor studio. They're great if I'm painting loose, or if I want precision painting in eyelashes on the eye of a baby portrait.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I use these brushes in silk painting in a technique where the dye is "scrubbed" on. I have the 1/4" and I could use one smaller.
Very comfortable brush
from Crestline, CA
I like the thick handle on this line of brushes, and the bristles are soft and well shaped for detailed oil painting. Over time, the ends of the bristles tend to split or fray and no longer keep a sharp edge.
These brushes are the kind I used in a silk painting class ( with Karen Sistek) where we learned how to use sizing instead of resists to paint our flowers. This requires a thick, high quality brush that can hold the dye and stay in tact with lots of scrubbing across the silk surface. This brand may not be the same we used in class, but it has the same professional quality.
Robert Simmons Expression Brushes Perform Well
Gives me more control with the heavy body paint I like to use. Very pleased with the latest painting I did using them.

Comments about Robert Simmons Expression Angle Shader:
I normally prefer brush made from natural hair like sable, fitch, horse, etc. However, I do love Robert Simmons brushes because they work so well with my wildlife art on many mediums such as wood, plaster, ceramic and canvas. I use mostly acrylics and sometimes oils and these brushes hold up well with those harsh mediums. They are a great brush that lasts, at a good price.

I use these brushes to paint or 'write' religious icons. Each brush can be depended upon to serve its purpose consistently wether that's a very fine line or a background wash. The brushes are well constructed and last a long time. Are they perfect? No, but they are very, very good!
